Gary Dolphin radio call

I am guessing you could own it for about $600.00
6 disk system. Playa status... 20 years ago.
Dolphin is a great ambassador for hawkeye sports, but these are his play by play calls that drive me crazy. It takes him at least 10 seconds to let the listener know that the game is over and Iowa has won. Before that, I'm wondering "how much time is left, did temple just inbound it, timeout? "
Maybe it's being picky, but I want to know when that shot goes in, we just won the game!

He's bad. I caught a bit of the uni game on AM tonight and their guy is pretty damn good.
Yup. I was stuck listening to him on my way home from work and thought the same thing.
How much time is left? Oh, we won.
Dolph is awful.

Would love to hear his play call on the last shot tonight.
He said Woodbury made it and Iowa was going for the win. Put one and one together.
So typical of Hawkeye fans. Always willing to denigrate what we have and always wish we had something different. It is no wonder that most of you are unhappy most of the time.
The difference in listening to an Iowa game and UNI game on the radio is night and day. When listening to Dolph I have to check my phone for the slow and situation because he is terrible at describing the situation. As a radio announcer he should paint a picture. He is bad at football and absolutely terrible at basketball. Basketball is way too fast for him. You never know what is going on. Listen to the difference between Rima and Dolphin on their last play calls. Which one is better? Honestly?

Seriously, though, I've been in the car and come across games, both football and basketball, and have to listen way too long to find out the score. Many times even to find out who is playing if I'm out of state or in a part of Iowa where I'm not familiar with the stations. I don't think Dolphin is that bad at giving the score. What annoys me, though, is the scolding tone his voice takes if the Hawks are not playing well. Many here would like that, I guess.

Dolphin was either drunk on Friday or he's senile. It is nearly impossible to follow a game with him. At least on a dozen different occasions on Friday... he referred to Temple as RUTGERS! Bobby finally gave up correcting him.

Replay of the Iowa '87 regional semi-final against Okla on 9.2 right now. Fun watching a game when you know the out come.
Rima has probably the most annoying voice and catch phrases possible but he tells you exactly whats happening as it happens.
Dolph has a great radio voice but no clue how to describe anything.
Its funny to listen to dolph while wathcing the game on TV. What he thinks is going on is hilarious.

Yes, I am. You can almost count on a culture of bitching, dissatisfaction, unhappiness and blame on these boards even after a win. Nothing is good enough. We need to improve our uniforms, our radio announcer is crappy, the administration is thwarting our drinking and tailgating, our coaches are horrible,old people spoil the gameday experience, are players are stupid, fans won't sit down so the people behind them can see, Alford still is the reason that we don't win more games, etc., etc., etc.,
You can find all this and more on these boards almost everyday.

I agree. Nothing Iowa does is good enough for people. Everybody else does everything better than Iowa. Whiners.
"Whiners" or not, Dolph has never been a professional play by play announcer. Nice guy, great Hawkeye fan, and a good MC for special events. Sportscaster, not so much.
He made a couple comments during the game that about made me punch the radio. Something about Fran being one of the best end of game coaches in the game and Fran being one of the best at managing timeouts. Is it a requirement for an Iowa announcer to have your head up the coaches ass.
I just kept waiting to hear whether the shot was in time by Woody. I heard Bobby try to interrupt once and I was just waiting for him to say it was too late, or they were going to review it.
I pulled up the game on the March Madness app and watched the replay before Dolph finished. He did say they won and it was over but I just was waiting for something different to come out
