I agree. Iowa needs a couple of other players to play well because opponents are now hyper focused on defending Garza.
With Frederick out, Connor McCaffery and Bakari Evelyn are two players who could really boost Iowa's win probability if they play well and knock down a few key buckets.
what we need, is for some of our guards to drive into the lane with a purpose other than stopping 10 feet away from the basket and just passing to somebody else. They need to drive in the lane with the intention of going to the hoop or of pulling up and taking an easy jumper. If any of our guards had done that against Nebraska, we win the game easily. It was frustrating to watch guards either not drive into the lane at all or driving the lane with the sole intention of stopping and passing to somebody else. There is zero threat in that, and that's why we lost against Nebraska.
If Austin Ash is available, I wonder if he could give us minutes. He's supposed to be a great shooter and has been with the team for a long time. All we need is someone capable of knocking down open 3s and playing something resembling defense.
ESPN lists Frederick as a game time decision vs. Maryland. I don't expect him to play and as of yesterday neither does Fran apparently:

You may not see much unless they decide to shut him down for the remainder of the season which is a real possibility. It’s not easy to predict when inflammation is going to leave a bone. I don’t see this being a couple of days.

Iowa IS in a bad spot, and it's not that anyone really wants Austin Ash to play key minutes, but he's there and cleared to play, so if he gets in I hope he can toss a few shots in and be a hero. Nebraska's walk-ons got the job done Tuesday night. Maybe Austin can burn the turtles tonight.
