Garza needs to get out of Detroit as soon as he can.

Watched tonight to see if he would get in. They are literally so bad that they can't give him minutes because they are so desperate for a win.
He needs minutes to get up to speed. Luka has limitations, the only way he will have success is if him and his teammates gain cohesiveness.

I take it you did not watch Detroit when he got time earlier this season.
I did, he contributed and also was a liability at times. He's a rookie with huge potential. He needs to play to get up to speed.
The are 4-22, how much more can you lose? So if he plays more they might be 1-25, or maybe 8-18? Does it matter, let him develop a little.

your team in the NBA has very little to do with your time in the NBA. If you can play you will stick. Not at all comparable to an NFL player.

You watch Trevor Lawrence play? Guess he's a bust already huh?

Really? So Trevor is great, his team just sucks. Got ya, your teammates can't make you look better than you are or worse than you are?
Seems like I've heard this argument on the fb board.
So Kevin Durant or Steph can't open up opportunities for teammates that they wouldn't have on a lesser team?

yes really. If you can play you are fine. Someone will find a role for you. Sure if you are a fringe player you might stick around longer with a great supporting cast. ok.

But if you belong in the league you will find a spot and last. Thats been pretty clear for 50+ years.

I love Luka and all, but I've heard exactly one person describe his NBA potential as "huge".

A country singer's success is minimally reliant upon his band members
Stop. Lol
No one said his potential was huge, I said he needs to gtf out of Detroit.
Bunch of negative fing Nancy's.

most recent minutes with the G-League team

and their schedule

If you didn't use the word "huge", how did you know it was you I was quoting?

Wow, regardless.
This drive and kick offense for Casey is not for Garza.

You literally stated his potential was huge in this thread. Your quote below:

Like any player who is on the margins/moving back and forth on two-way contracts, there is a bit of luck and fortune needed. Detroit stinks. They aren't going to be redesigning their offense for Garza or giving him a bunch of minutes just because. Like it or not, they have a way they are going to want to play. Losing a bunch of games this year doesn't seem to bother them, they will be in the lottery again with shots at a high pick. They have seen him tons in practice and in his G League games. At some point, yes, they might give him more extended minutes. I do hope so. His best bet is just to keep playing as well as he can with minutes he gets in the G League or with the Pistons and hope that either the Pistons or another team notices.

Dude has been an incredible success story no matter how his NBA career goes. To think he would one day play in multiple NBA games when he got here as a freshman is really nuts. I would bet on him making a good living playing basketball for a decade, either here in the NBA or overseas.

That wasn't my point. I should have phrased it better, if he has the opportunity he needs to go.

He's not going to get a shot at a good team. Stay in Detroit and hopefully he can get some PT and make a name for himself. If not, become assistant coach at Iowa and teach Bigs now to score in low post.

I would say the opposite of fun.

Horribly boring b-ball the Pistons played. Goon ball. They were the NBA equivalent of the Hanson brothers.

I loved Slapshot so I’m going to disagree. But that is a great reference.

I’m a Knickerbocker fan though, so what do I know. I also was not a Pistons fan. I would have much rather seen the Celtics win a few more

Oh, I absolutely loved Slapshot too! And all of the scenes with the Hanson bros are the best parts of the movie.

Give the guy some freaking minutes to grow, not like it can get much worse.
I agree. Casey could give him more PT. Jerami Grant and Kelly Olynyk are both out with injuries. Beef Stew(art) could use some help. Luka had 9 points and 3 rebs today vs Houston. Casey is a coach who believes in veterans in the starting spots. However, the Pistons bench has been doing quite well all season. I've been frustrated with Luka's minutes like most everyone and he does need PT to continue to develop. If you look at the roster, others have been used less also. Hamidou Diallo wasn't playing a lot for quite awhile and then Casey finally began to use him and he performed well. But, you're right. It's not like the season is on the line. With Olynyk and now Grant out for awhile, Luka really needs to see more time on the court, unless he commits too many fouls or does something that doesn't help the team.

I predicted Garza would play NBA ball 1-3 years and head east to Europe. Night be time to price some luggage

Detroit is actually a perfect situation for him. It’s not often a second round rookie has a chance at PT.

Luka to G League likely, especially when Olynyk comes back. Stewart starting and Bol coming off the bench short term. When Olynyk comes back it may be a game time decision between him and Bol Bol coming off the bench. May be wrong but who knows?

Lyles is playing better ball than Stewart right now. Bol bol hardly plays either, but I'm afraid he takes Garza's spot as the 4th center.

I actually hope the Spurs pick him up.

Disagree, I loved watching the Detroit- Chicago -LA match ups. Vinny Johnson was dynamite and Isiah Thomas a Hall of Famer. Loved to hate Detroit. To me, that was the heyday.
