The best part about Garza is that he was right back in the game. Like we’ve seen a few times this year. He gets patched up and is right back in there contributing. Love it. You can’t teach, coach, or instill that kind of determination and dedication in a player. That is just something some players have while a majority do not.
As much pain as Garza was in laying there, I thought for certain he was done for the game (due to time / score). Nope, here comes Luka checking back in.
You have to watch the replay when he checks back in. Iowa is at the FT line and Garza goes to mid court. Garza says something to Connor and CM’s reaction is priceless. I’m assuming he broke the news that he lost his tooth.

Luka ran to the scorers table to meet the young lady trainer who was bringing him a mouth guard. You can see him put it in before he sits on the floor to wait for time to be called....

They work for a lot of people. My youngest started on the varsity as a freshman, so we had him using a mouth guard hoping to protect him from the physicality of the older kids. He never was able to breath very well through his nose, even though the doctors said he didn't have a deviated septum or any other issue they could see. So he had to draw a lot of breath through his mouth when he was exerting physically. Made the guard very problamatic, so he basically stopped using it.
