As I said the Dems were idiots on this issue. MAGA made this a central issue and the opposition lost all common sense in addressing the issue.
The question I was answering was if any democrat had proposed legislation in favor of boys playing in girls sports and the answer is yes.

Problem is he has a record and he can't run from it. Flip Flopping whackadoo positions didn't help Harris and wouldn't help Newsome. He couldn't get through a debate with Ron DeSantis, who couldn't make it out of Iowa (damn it). That poop map is going to follow him, and if he's flip flopping on the whackadoo positions, he won't even be able to win a HOR or Senate seat in California.

Newsome has charisma and is popular. He will be a formidable opponent in primaries.
I keep thinking the same thing and this looks like an attempt at testing-the-waters to see how “moderate” he appears.
But, Governor of California for decades now has a stigma that much of the country does not like (even for some of the center-left). I think Newsom knows that and he has stayed in his lane as a result during his term as Gov. I think he is content to run Cali which itself is one of the largest economies in the world. But I am sure his party and family are pushing him to run.
If we see him deliver the Dem response to the State of the Union in 2026, 2027 then I’ll be convinced he’s running.
Then drop the issue and distance yourself from it. There are millions of independents and moderate Dems who oppose letting biological males play girls’ sports and forcing those girls to share locker room and shower facilities with them.
At some point Dems are going to have to decide that this issue simply isn’t worth losing elections over.

Right. Was obvious for a while -- and I was saying this during the Biden presidency from the get-go -- that they needed to pivot back to being a worker's party and to drop the "woke" stuff. Because A) it didn't make much sense, B) most people disagreed with it, C) it was red meat for your MAGA opposition.
(by "woke" I mean the silly stuff like males in female sports, language rules, cancel culture and the like -- there is still room for reasonable rights based progressivism)

Like many of these hot button topics there is a rational middle. For athletes who transitioned before puberty there is no demonstrable advantage because the frame/cardiac/lung capacity was never exposed to male growth hormones. For athletes who transitioned post puberty there is an advantage that remains even after the hormones have leveled. The medical field was moving forward on adopting standards for this but now that the political sides have entrenched all logic and reason has left the building.

Sounds about right. Well before Trump's election you had sporting bodies adjusting for the logic you described above. I'm fine letting them do the work. Most of this stuff shouldn't be federal fodder.

This is a Republican creation and people like you jumped on it. They knew you would, because they know how dumb their base is.
His team knows the party went too far with this issue and lost voters in the center. This is the first foreshadow that the Democrat party will begin backtracking on this a bit

It might or might not be fair, I’m not close enough to how much he has done to help or hurt California, but the public perception right now is that he has turned the state worse. Until that perception is changed he isn’t winning PA, WI or any other swing state.
So in all probability the Dems will ignore this obvious fact and make him the nominee. Beating Vance or Don Jr should be a cakewalk and the Dems will probably make this thing a nail biter.
Democrats didn't MAKE this an issue. Cite me some laws democrats wrote demanding boys play girls sports. Until then this was a BS issue that affects next to nobody blown up by Republicans. This isn't a democrat issue.

The Democrats literally just voted 100% in unison to allow this, not a single Democrat voted for the Womens/Girls Sports Act proposed to ban this.
The bolded part is what I'm addressing here, but the language rules may seem like an insignificant thing and in reality, it probably mostly is. But changing terms like "manhole" to "Maintenance Hole" to be "gender neutral" is silly stuff. There's no reason to change the name of stuff like that and it just makes the people pushing this stuff seem whackadoo.
The active push and campaigning for all of the things you listed that the DNC is doing?

I think it was 2 things mainly:
1) Seeming really out of touch
2) Bossing people around on the basis of something out of touch
I think it's one thing when you see some dope on facebook saying this stuff. It's another when your university or library or congressperson starts going along with it. That engenders a stronger opinion and response. It's when it got loose in institutions and businesses that I think it really started irking people.
If people just started talking this way naturally over time and then it seeped its way into institutions at least it would've been the people that decided to do so. That's how language usually works. But a whole bunch of new rules being dictated to you from on high isn't going to work.

Maybe they don't do it anymore, but waaaaaaaaay back in the 1900's when I played high school sports, you had to get a physical from a doctor to play high school sports...
Of course now some of the doctors are compromised with the tranny madness so asking them to confirm gender during this exam might be a big ask 30 years later.
