IMO he called another good game (maybe better than "good"). There were a couple execution issues on some first half screens that could have been huge gains if the execution / timing was slightly better, but I absolutely loved those calls and that we're seeing more of them. I can't remember Ferentz teams running this many RB screens, but IA could easily (or maybe already has) become a "screen team." (Those of you that watch a lot of football will know that generic, obvious phrase commentators use, but it's amazing how some teams rarely call screens while others have many variations.) IA has always used the RBs to catch swing passes in the flats and some circle / arrow routes out of the backfield, but Ferentz teams haven't always used many RB screens. Really love this added dimension.
I'd also love to say I've been calling GDGD a genius for years . . . but I would be lying. Best OC is like a good OL - you never notice them unless they're doing something exceptionally well or things are going poorly and fans need a scapegoat. Good for GDGD.
Also props to the OL for their play and transition today, especially Welsh and Daniels. W/o having re-watched the game and focusing on trench play, I don't recall Welsh making any glaring mistakes playing a new position. Wadley definitely adds another dimension and made many NW tacklers look bad, but there were again points today where IA's OL simply dominated and blew defenders off the LoS. Only game this season I don't recall that happening at some point was Pitt, who we're seeing is legit and very likely to be ranked this week. IMO IA's OL has been very impressive in light of the constantly shifting pieces, and the future appears impressively bright (knock on wood).
