As our 1 seed counter part. I think both of these teams are in the "trending down" category. It's too bad Livers got injured, but one has to think if we get matched up with them it is our best shot at reaching the final four.

I think today's game has me feeling optimistic. We aren't going to play many teams where Garza is physically overmatched. It was the perfect tune up. It shows that we can play with anyone, and when we play to our abilities, we can beat anyone. This loss will give us a much needed week off, and some extra knowledge and motivation to make a deep run. Keep your head up boys, this is where the story begins!

CJ has to get his confidence back. Seemed like he was pressing in both games and got down on himself. I like that Jbo isn't living solely behind the arc. Ball fake and take a couple dribbles and knock those mid-range jumpers down. Same for JW. I wish CJ would follow suit. He isn't going to win too many meetings at the rim and I would rather see him pull up under control for a jumper vs. the off balance one handed runners in heavy traffic.

Probably good for the whole team to have some time to rest, rehab and recharge prior to the tournament. I think Iowa's most effective lineup is Jbo, CJ, JW, Murray, and Garza. When CJ is knocking down shots and dribble penetrating Iowa is a really tough team to guard. When the offense turns into Garza or a 3 it usually doesn't go well.

CJF scored a half dozen times in the last two games doing exactly what you just said so? The issue I think is he's still about 75% and against a team with guards like Ayo, Curbelo, and Frazier he was at a serious disadvantage not being closer to full go....

Fair points. Why put him out there then? You have 100% Perkins with fresh legs, a 100% Pmac who has been steadily improving and Ulis / Joe T. to flex the lineup. A 100% anybody is going to have their hands full with Ayo so not being critical of CJ, just seems a bit counterproductive to have a guy not at his best out there. Rest him for the tournament and see what others can do--nothing to lose in a game Iowa had a 10% chance of winning IMO.

I don't disagree. I was actually surprised Fran put him right back in when Joe W got hurt against Wisconsin. I thought Perkins played pretty well yesterday although he still was no match for Ayo, I have no problem with him in that game. Joe T is probably the only guard we have with that kind of quicks, but Ayo would still get his. He's a great player. With Nunge absense I'd also liked to see a few minutes from Josh O in each half to bang on Cockburn, but water under the bridge at this point.

CJ hit shots on back to back possessions on Friday when that game was starting to go sideways a bit........I thought both shots were smooth. One was a shot fake, relocate and jumper.

If he is healthy, he is fine IMO.

Actually Ayo had nothing but tough looks against Perkins.

Perkins is a very good defender, he doesn't create havoc like Joe but he usually doesn't take nearly as many risks either.

Ayo tried to turn the corner on him multiple times and couldn't.

CJ had a couple nice moves to the rim where he just couldn't finish.

I think he's fine. Maybe a little out of condition.

After playing three and watching a few Big 12 games, I say try Baylor out, then Michigan, Gonzaga, Illinois in that order.

Um and Illinois both have guys that are bad matchups for Luka.

Baylor is a bad matchup for everyone.

Gonzaga has no one to matchup with Luka.

For Iowa to be successful against a high level team Luka has to dominate his matchup on offense to make up for what he gives up defensively.
