Looking for suggestions for things to do over Labor Day weekend in Philly. Were going to check out at least one day of the Made In America festival and will decide which day once the set times come out.

Thinking about doing a food tour and know we'll get some good recommendations from that, but what are some restaurants we shouldn't miss?

How about the Eastern State Penitentiary?

Staying at Hyatt at The Bellevue and will not have a vehicle.

Not sure what kind of food you are looking for or how much you would care to part with. Since you mentioned the Bellevue, I'm guessing money is not a concern. Try the Capital Grille across the street by City Hall. McCormick and Schmick's for seafood is next to the former. The Palm is also right there. Walk west on Chestnut St...a bunch of good restaurants there. Rittenhouse Square as well. (20th and Walnut).

I thought Eastern Penitentiary was just known for Halloween and their Haunted House. There's a Genghis Khan exhibit at The Franklin Institute presently. The Art Museum and Academy of Natural History is all nearby. The Jersey Shore requires a vehicle and patience for the traffic. An hour drive at least.

Dalessandros for a cheesesteak with whiz and hot peppers

Edit: I have no idea if that's close to you or not

Ralph's for the best Italian meal of your life. Mussels in red sauce.

Nicks Roast Beef on 19th and Jackson for the best sandwich if your life.

Irish Pub on Walnut for a good bar experience.

Random Eagles chants throughout visit.

If I were going to Philadelphia again, I would do exactly what I did the first time I went there. I would wallow in the incredible history of the place, and eat at least one Philly cheese steak.

Those are both Chain restaurants. You can get them in any major city.

Made In America gets real crowded and there are a lot of drunk teenagers, but it is fun. Be aware that once you leave for the day you can't re-enter. I have been twice and would go back but i have different plans this year.
Definitely go to Reading Terminal Market, they have about everything you could want and everything is good. Good Dog is known for its burgers but I am not a huge fan. Sabrinas has a good brunch and usually a fun menu. Lots of other good places in Center City and Old City. If you want more hipster, small cafe type places head up to Northern Liberties area.
I enjoyed the self guided headphone tour at Eastern State Penitentary and would recommend. You are in easy walking distance of Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell which are both worth checking out. Art Museum is closed because of the festival.

I'd do all the touristy things associated with the Revolutionary War. I don't think you can go wrong with that.
Go to the cheesesteak place that has the sign posted that you can only order in English. Attempt to order dos carne de vaca wit, por favor.
