you can’t always get what you want!
After 6 days s of beer, brats, pork, cabbage, dumplings,,schnapps and a few more beers, Isay"thanks for the good time!"
What an interesting and vibrant city you are. Besides hosting 8 to 12 million folks over 2 1/2 weeks for Oktoberfest, you do it with a drunken flair I have never imagined if I hadnT seen it myself.
What I learned....That the 6 biggest brewer sin Germany are "state owned." Beneath the streets of Munich a whole mother city exists and booms 24 hours a day. The subways feed a whole industry of food caterers and it runs 24/7. Currently, the old Olympic Stadium is home to an "Erotik Messe" for this week and next...whatever that is.The BMW showroom is quite a site to visit. I have never seem a 7 figure price tag for an automobile, until today. They had a Rolls on the floor with a custom sticker of a little over $1.2M. Most of the BMWs on display were priced in the $85-155 k range. They had a little beauty on the floor in an "old gold" with black accents priced at $138k.
I cannot remember ever feeling so full of food. The fat, the starch and the beer takes it toll, I guess. i would not recommend Munich for anyone with a little appetite! It's a trip I looked forward too and we really enjoyed the whole thing....border crossing delays and all! I should be home Saturday,,just after the Wiscy game. Until then....go Hawks!

Sounds like you had quite the trip. Munich during Ocktoberfest or not has been on my radar. Perhaps next year. Although I don't think I'm as big of fan of German food as it appears you are.

You calling him fat brah???

sounds like a great time - i'm jealous!
any unique breweries you came across? i'm familiar with the big guys, but always wanted to track down some of the smaller breweries that just don't really export much.

It must be the times we live in, but when I opened this I expected this to be about the Muslim refugees blowing up the German town. I'm glad its a booze thread.

Just a matter of time. Leading Muslim clerics have already been pressuring German leaders to do away with Oktoberfest because it's against Sharia Law. With the influx, it will only get worse.

Sort of how Christians try to pressure New Orleans to clean up Mardi Gras. What's the problem? Just tell all the fundies to get lost. Note, for that to work, you need to not vote for fundies like Ted Cruz and Huckabee.

Perhaps you were confused. He was referencing the Holocaust. Do you think mass genocide of Muslims is in order?

Never mind, I think we all know your answer, whether you'd admit to it or not.

Hmmmmmmm…….do the Muslims want to exterminate the Jews?

Most? Nope. Not at all.

A few lunatics (like yourself) among them? Yep.

The key is to separate the crazies from the rest. I understand why you have such an issue with it.

So how many crazy Muslims do you think are out there? And how many does it take to cause serious global problems?

Wow. the opinion of a single guy. How compelling and thought provoking about a religion with 1 billion + members.

Please, this would be like someone quoting you and thinking you spoke for all prison guards.

Well, you apparently didn't watch the entire video based on the time hacks. Why don't you give it a true look and watch the entire thing. He's pretty fair.

So if you watched 1 billion videos, would it change your mind? How many would it take?

I don't think even a billion videos would make me support genocide. But I'm not an inhumane animal.

Where did I support genocide? Show me those words where I said I supported genocide.

dgordo:
dont worry, the germans have a way of dealing with minority populations that get out of control.

You:
I hope in this case, that's true.

Again, he was referring to the Holocaust. You endorsed it.

I've always wanted to visit Munich, not in the tourist-crazy season though.

Some posters may be taking it to extremes, or hoping for extremes.

I think planes back to Syria and Iraq would do? What do you think?

I guess a certain German airline has a recent history of a deliberate crash. I would have thought there's a more efficient way to carry out your plans but then again efficiency isn't a strong point for your type of public leech.

But cereally. this thread is about Oktoberfest.

You see all the women of Munich wearing their "drindls".......they really are a nice looking traditional dress, that wonderfully accents what women like to have accented. I did see one waiter carry 11liters at once...that's a lot of beer! He told me later that the waiter/waitress can carry as many as they feel safe carrying but they are responsible for any spillage/breakage costs, so ,out carry a comfortable max of 6-8 liters, max.
He told me that waiters/waitresses can make some real serious money at the tents during Oktoberfest...several thousands of euros.
There are 9 beer tents on property. Most will hold 6k inside, some hold 9k...all have outside seating of another 1 to 3 k. The festival runs 2 weeks in late Sept thru early October. Depending on weather, they experience anywhere from 8-12 million visitors to the fair grounds! My experience...any time after 1pm, the grounds are wall to wall people. Also, all but one of the "main beer producers" are government owned. Augustine's is privately owned, according to my source.
I can cross Oktoberfest off my bucket list. It was more than I could ever imagined it to be. OOom pa pa and all.......and until you have heard an Ooom pa pa band play "Great Balls of Fire" you haven't experienced life!
