After the Brian Ferentz fiasco she absolutely had to give her ok.I find that very hard to believe…unless it is a very controversial hire.
No AD is gonna “meddle” unless the HC is on thin ice to begin with.

Iowa has one of the top A.D.'s in the country IMO. Obviously she has a long ways to go to prove that, but absolutely everything she has done since her arrival has suggested that she is up to the task and light-years more competent than her predecessor. There’s been a lot of talk recently about whether Beth is up to snuff or not. Between firing and hiring a suitable offensive coordinator in football, choosing Jan to replace Lisa rather than looking outside, and now getting McCollum even with the NIL limitations, I think she deserves a ton of credit. I question whether Barta would’ve had the cojones to do all of this in < 2 years. All this to say- THANK YOU BETH!
You normally agree with that Luka clown? WTF?I normally agree with you but unless you have some hard proof you’re going to pull something jumping to these conclusions. I can maybe buy president Wilson getting involved although I honestly doubt sports are very high on her to-do list (particularly assistant coaches) but the BOR? That’s ludicrous without evidence. Same for your claims about McCollum and DeVries. Unless you have an article or video of Ben saying, “Iowa is my dream job” you’re just speculating. Plus a lot of people are saying that DD to Indiana was a done deal shortly after Woodson was fired so she may not have “whiffed” at all. Unless you’re saying she should have canned Fran last year and went after DD in which case I completely agree.
LMAOIowa has one of the top A.D.'s in the country IMO.
JMO, dude. I said that she's not close to proving it yet, but she has impressed. If GB were still our AD, BF would still be our OC and Fran may also still be our MBB coach. She's done everything to earn my support. Don't get mad because of that. The better she is, the better it is for all of us.LMAO
Based on what, exactly?
Firing a 66 year old coach who had 4 NCAA wins in 15 years and was coaching in front of home crowds of 4,000 people? Firing a nepo baby OC that had become a national laughing stock?
One of the top ADs in the country? Really?
I know she has a vagina and makes a lot more money than you .....but ...get a grip.
That is totally bullshit. She had no say in Kirk choosing Lester.Beth has the final say on who Ferentz can hire.
There was no way she was going to interfere, unless KF tried to hire another family member, but yes, she has to rubber-stamp all of his asst coach hires, just like every other AD, so to say that she "had no say" is what's bullshit. That is totally bullshit. She had no say in Kirk choosing Lester.
lmao Being better than G f'ing B does not come close to making someone one of the top ADs in the country.JMO, dude. I said that she's not close to proving it yet, but she has impressed. barta should have fired brian after two pathetic seasons of bottom 10 offense but he had zero ballsBarta made the contract that allowed beth to get rid of BF.
Just sayin.
WTF, dude? I support our AD and have high expectations for her, so you keep making mommy issue comments? YOU'RE the one with issues. Better put your chauvinist attitudes aside, because BG is going to be around a long time and will be hiring the next FB coach. Again, her being really good at her job (oh, please explain to me what an AD does. LOL) is beneficial to all of us; I'm sorry you have a problem with this.lmao Being better than G f'ing B does not come close to making someone one of the top ADs in the country.
You're goofy AF or you really have no idea what an AD does. Or you just have serious mommy issues.
His opinions about Fran and roster construction, generally yes. He can definitely go off the deep end though. You normally agree with that Luka clown? WTF?
If Barta were still AD we'd be stuck with Brian Ferentz as our OC and Fran McCaffery as our MBB coach literally for life.
I disagree with that. Your saying she had to sign off is a stretch to say the least. There was no way she was going to interfere, unless KF tried to hire another family member, but yes, she has to rubber-stamp all of his asst coach hires, just like every other AD, so to say that she "had no say" is what's bullshit.
Sure, OK. Stick this one in your a-holeDude accuses everyone of jumping to conclusions in another thread then posts this gem.
This is hogwash. It's a narrative started by misogynists. If you've got proof to support your claim, post a link (FYI - I've challenged probably a dozen dipsh*ts like yourself to do this, and no one has).
Oh, and BG knows more about football than you do.
More jumping to conclusions.
So you give BG absolutely zero credit for getting rid of Fran (who had a lot of support among the fan base, according to this board) and landing one of the best up and coming coaches in the country? If you were AD, you would have f*cked it up.
No, she didn't. She got her man. Just because DD was available to interview first doesn't mean he was her first choice. More jumping to conclusions.
And stop with all your stupid gifs with every one of your posts. They add nothing to your drivel.
I am somewhat surprised that we didn’t hear more about the Carver renovations during the season. With the need to come up with more nil money for basketball I think the renovations get pushed back until the team starts winning and filling up the arena. Hope it happens.I think some of the response we have seen to this outside of the normal overreaction reflects a fan base that has grown used to incompetent athletic administration at Iowa. We could all see Barta making some terrible moves like the contract extensions but couldn't do anything about it but wait for him to leave the scene.
Beth has seemed on point from day one as you pointed out. If we can get the Carver renovations done along with closing the deal with McCollum going on 70 I will finally see the rebirth of the Iowa mens basketball program. It absolutely thrills me! 😅
She seems like a really good AD. Maybe a great one. Time will tell.lmao Being better than G f'ing B does not come close to making someone one of the top ADs in the country.
You're goofy AF or you really have no idea what an AD does. Or you just have serious mommy issues.
sure, they do the background check. Just an HR thing. Nothing elseYes they are. They have to make sure that the hire is in alignment with school standards and has some kind of track record of success.
If are to believe Kakert, he claims a $65 mil renovation to Carver is in the works.I am somewhat surprised that we didn’t hear more about the Carver renovations during the season. With the need to come up with more nil money for basketball I think the renovations get pushed back until the team starts winning and filling up the arena. Hope it happens.
Never stated it as a fact. Just common sense, which isn't so common on here is it....Likely she approached the higher ups and said "this is what we need to do, any objections?". That is very plausible. Unlike Luka Duka, I will not state it as "fact".
It's not lame, it's common sense.I’ve not put my eggs in the Beth basket yet, but that’s a lame take. She got rid of BF, for that alone Im impressed.
Not dissing her, but not building her a statue either. So far she's gathered low hanging fruit. How about that fund raising and NIL support? That's as big a part of an AD's job as hiring/firing coaches. Without major donor support she will fail. Just stating the obvious. You have zero information on what actually took place. EVERYTHING you have said is pure speculation on your part. I don't know what has happened and neither do you. You seem to be bent on dissing Beth without any insight.
I have no more information than anyone else on these boards. Just common sense, like many on here are lacking IMO. And I'll throw more gifs out here just to piss off the meettheferentzs dude. lolI normally agree with you but unless you have some hard proof you’re going to pull something jumping to these conclusions. The truth in most things is usually somewhere in the middle.
As it relates to Barta, he chased off Alford without having to pay a buyout. He got the water tower painted, the Tigerhawk at midfield, the new north end zone, and grew donations considerably. And he hired a pretty good replacement in Beth. But he also cost the university millions in lawsuits that could have been avoided with just a bare minimum of HR compliance. And he was too generous with coach contracts.
With Beth, she got rid of BF and Fran, was decisive in her hiring of Jan (and was able to keep leaks out of the press after Lisa gave notice), and appears on the cusp of making (on the surface anyway) a great MBB hire. If she’s able to get Carver renovations done and get students on the court, then pretty tough to find anything to complain about yet.

Yeah, he is really reaching, but he ends with a gif. CHECKMATE!!!when the water tower is one of your signuare wins that really says something lol
The NIL has been very strong for everything except basketball and she just secured a big jump for basketball. Either you don't know what you're talking about or you're just mad a woman has a position of authority.
Fact is Beth is widely respected around the industry and Barta was always considered a clown. We are lucky to have her
Seems nil should come first, just saying. If are to believe Kakert, he claims a $65 mil renovation to Carver is in the works.
So, according to you, after she had to take it upon herself to force BF out, KF could have hired Steve Ferentz as the new OC and there's nothing she would have been able to do about it? KF doesn't pay his assistants from his salary; she's in charge of athletic department payroll; she has final say. I already said that KF likely had autonomy as long as he made a reasonable hire and she would go along with it with essentially no interference, but she's in charge. My claim that she had to sign off on it is much less of a stretch compared to your claim that "she had no say."I disagree with that. Your saying she had to sign off is a stretch to say the least.

Sex, gender or LBGTQ has nothing to do with it. It's just a statement of what most would call a hierarchy of decision making. If you were new to a company and had an employee who had 15 years with an organization (as a player/coach) you would not make a decision to fire said person on your own without support from your managers. That would be idiotic and possible career suicide. Especially when said employee is the son of the most respected employees in the state. Get it? I doubt you do.Yeah, I think he is a little misogynist.
Carver has needed an update longer than half the posters on this board have been alive.Seems nil should come first, just saying.
This is like saying Coach K at Duke had to get approval from his AD to hire his assistants. You sir are a complete and utter moron. Own it.So, according to you, after she had to take it upon herself to force BF out, KF could have hired Steve Ferentz as the new OC and there's nothing she would have been able to do about it? This is what you posted, moron. Make up your mind

Dude your thong is showing. You can have an opinion without proof, dipsh*t.Pull
I'm through with you and ANF dude. You guys can get together and smoke cigars and drink brandy, reminiscing about the great days of when only men were in charge of things.
Rebuttal? You made it for me.What case? you have no rebuttal & no common sense.

Not even close? Both coaches are legends at their respective schools? What part of that don't you understand??No, it's not even close to that. Stop trying.
Thanks for ruining the thread, asshole.
Your thoughts that it couldn’t be another family member is a red herring. I’m just saying the hiring of Lester was all Kirk’s decision, period. So, according to you, after she had to take it upon herself to force BF out, KF could have hired Steve Ferentz as the new OC and there's nothing she would have been able to do about it?
