Good news is Iowa beat MD without CJ. Bad news is Kriener was playing at a high level for most of the season, but he hasn't played well the past several games.

We need him to play like he was during most of the season! Evelyn and Toussaint also need to step up their games--especially defensively and not making so many stupid, careless and out-of-control turnovers.

Very few teams can lose one of their starters and play well. Iowa has lost about 3 starters and now have to win a bunch down the road to get a good seed. Look at what Michigan did without Livers.
It's going to be a long hard road the last month for us....

For some crazy reason I feel Pemsl and Bakari will step up their game.
I believe this will force Fran into a more conventional lineup with 2 bigs (2B) and shelve the 4 guard (4G) lineup which will employ significantly more minutes from Kriener, which will have the effect of improving Defense, Rebounding, and 2pt FG% (recall Kriener leads B1G in 2pt FG%), while also increasing Pemsl’s minutes (and his plus Defense and Rebounding).

Defensive FG% will go down (Iowa 2nd worst in B1G), opposing offensive rebounding% will go down (reducing easy 2nd Chance put backs) , elimination of Riley Til playing defense in a power 5 conference will help, and pairing Kriener and Garza will present offensive matchup issues as they both have ability to step out and make 3s

CJF has been a great shooter, but a minus defender, (many of those IU 3’s came on his side of zone).

I think Iowa surprises the doomsday viewpoints.

My concern is that what we'll see is Kreiner in early foul trouble. When he was going good for several weeks he'd been avoiding some of the silly fouls and bad plays that limited his contribution the last couple of years. He seems to have fallen back into some of the same careless plays for some reason, and I don't know why. We do need him to step up though...

I hear what your saying, but Kriener has not fouled out of a single game, and rarely gets more than 2-3 fouls, I just think the over cautionary concern with ‘fouling out’ is not a concern. I’d love to see a Kriener play 35m and see what happens.
He does lead the B1G in 2pt FG%, and +66%. how about getting him 12 FGA/Gm?

Connor has to step up as far as scoring. Heaving up a desperation 3 at the end of the shot clock isn’t part of it. Get 8+ out of him and it would be huge.

Do not understand why Connor never drives to the hoop. He can go very strong left. Take it to the hoop, CM!! Could open up your chance for 3s also.

Because Joe T. left him covering 2 guys in that side of the zone. JT blew several assignments early and that's why he spent a lot of time on the bench. He's a freshman, he'll learn.
