Bad news first- as an Iowa fan I am completely sick of Fran and his fake tough guy act. Teams take on their coaches traits and it is no wonder Iowa implodes late in games more times than not. 16 freaking years with nothing but some individual star players to show for it. Beth better be ready to push him out and get on the phone to McCullom

Good news- HAMMERED the ISU moneyline when they were down double digits. Everyone with a brain knew Iowa would blow that lead.

Bad news, Iowa dropped 11 spots in the NET. You absolutely have to beat Utah and I think go 12-8 in conference play. Utah is a very tough matchup for this Iowa team too.

My guess is Fran is waiting for Jack to finish High School and then the Butler job to open up. Matta must have told Fran he's going to retire and AD must be on board with Fran. There are so many McCaffery's at Butler right now, it seems unlikely to be a coincidence. Beth has to be smart enough not to offer Fran the buyout and wait the 1-2 more years before Fran is gone on his own. Use the money saved for NIL.

The Brainpower deficit between Fran and TJ Otzelberger is pretty obvious and the achievement difference is stark. TJ two Sweet16s and Fran 0 for 28 year career.

Who besides Fran thinks defense/rebounding is optional? Fran does know how to build a 0.500 B1G team, but TJ builds to win games in any venue based on defense, rebounding, and just enough offense.

When the line when to 5.5 points before the game I jumped on it. Took ISU and the points. Easy money.

And no, that doesn’t mean I wanted Iowa to lose. Quite the opposite. I would have GLADLY lost money. But I bet with my head, not my heart.

Why McCollum? Just curious.
He is an amazing coach but it would be a shock the system after watching Iowa BB for the last 15 years. He really values the ball and his teams play intense defense so it is a lot slower pace. My only worry would be if he had the recruiting connections that he might need to get it going in Iowa City.

I think McCaffery has been a lot more reserved this season. I rarely see any outbursts from him, but then of course, those are OK when it's Underwood or Izzo. His relatively calm demeanor this season indicates to me that this is going to be his last season as the Iowa HC.

If TJ Otzelberger is that great of a coach, why did he leave UNLV with a losing record? Could it be that falling into the NIL jackpot that is available at ISU made him a better coach? Just askin' for a friend.
What is this NIL jackpot that you all keep mentioning. TJ is a great coach. NIL is not going to make players play defense, TJ demands that of anyone that wants to be on the roster. Considering they are only unfavored in 1 game the rest of the year, I would say TJ is doing exceptional work.

It's just a weird rival jealousy thing. Nobody here knows anything other than ISU has a better basketball program.

It's just that we can't understand how they get the recruits that they get. Must be something wrong or their NIL pays pretty good. Because I know that they would have to pay me pretty damn good to get me to live in that shithole city.

It's got nothing to do with the city. It has to do with the program. NIL might be a significant factor, but nobody really knows to what extent. Hoiberg had a lot of success before Prohm and now Otzelberger has since he left. You can call it luck or a moneybag or whatever, but the guy can flat out coach whoever is playing for him. He took a team that only won 2 games the year before all the way to the Sweet 16, something Iowa hasn't done in 25 years, and then does it again just 2 years later and they're likely there again this year.

What great city do you live now? Or, what state if you want to remain more anonymous?

Sounds like you should become a clown fan then. I hear the water is awesome in Ames. 😉

So, why did he leave UNLV with a losing record? Also, why does he wear shirts 3X smaller than his body? 😳

It is a mystery why good players would want to spend a few years in Lames. 🤔

What recruits is Iowa State getting that take action of NIL?

Honestly outside on Lon Kruger nobody has had any success at UNLV since Tark. For one reason or another it’s a bad job.
I'll help you. He was only there 2 years. They came in second place with a 12-6 record in their conference the first year he was there. The second year he was in rebuilding mode with 6 freshmen and 2 sophomores on the roster.

In his last 2 years of a 3 year stint with S Dakota St he went 52-16 and finished in first place in the Summit both years. They made the NCAA tourney 2 of 3 years he was there.

I'm sick of listen to your drivel for the past 21 years.

No, you gave up the points with ISU

I know it’s not smart but I like the fact that for the most part Hawkeye players like to stay and play for the coach that recruited them.

That’s a pretty darn big worry. You have to be able to get the Jimmy’s and Joes .

I can tell you from the past 10 or so years, ISU is more athletic and this translates into drives and open looks from 3. The Iowa team has good players, but they aren't as athletic from top to bottom of the roster. This is what Fran chooses to do.
Correct

The best teams have a mix of pure athletes and shooters. The biggest fail for Fran has been PG and overvaluing skill compared to athleticism.

I think it's a sign of lack of passion.

As for izzo and underwood... please.... their kids play with a toughness ours do not. Their demeanor translates, therefore it's a bit more authentic. Frans has never translated to his teams.
They ARE NOT the same thing.
