GOP’s Crumbling Case against Biden on Crime, Immigration, and Inflation

What "metrics" are you referencing?
When you have 2 years of extreme spikes (violent crime, immigration, inflation) and then you see small drops or growth by less, it's reason to be somewhat optimistic, but it's also not grounds for celebration, and really doesn't negate criticisms.

If murder rate drops by 9% but is still 20% higher than 4 years ago...it's kind of like talking up Nebraska football because they finished 4th in the division instead of 6th after being pretty good at one time.

It's politics, so there's always spin, but to take that article at face value might make you dizzy.

LOL - so the numbers are getting dramatically better after a big spike due to Trump and Covid but because they haven't recovered fully (to near all-time bests, no less) in a short period of time you won't acknowledge it. Got it.

So disingenuous. SMH

Can’t give him a win. This is what I mean when I say people vote against their best interests. Biden has done a great job, should win in a landslide, but won’t because next to no Republicans are willing to admit the truth. They’d prefer to be wrong and loyal to their lost party.

I think Biden would really increase his chances if he would replace Kamala. It is highly unlikely he will be able to fulfill an entire additional term, and having her as the next in line is not a good situation.

The data show that those spikes were directly the result of a global pandemic and associated problems with it.

Biden absolutely deserves credit for moving things back toward a "normalcy" trajectory with relatively few growing pains.

This is the same bullshit republicans spewed when Obama was pulling the US out of the Great Recession - minus the blatant racism.

Disagree...I think it has served us well.
But is “small states” vs. “big states” really THE issue in today’s America…..we fought a war to decide the future of slavery, too. The biggest argument has to be the under-representation of states like Cali/NY/Texas as compared to states like Wyoming and the Dakotas….But then voting equality/equity is not a big deal for today’s Republican Party….that is understood.

I'll buy you a cup of coffee if Kamala doesn't begin to roar very soon.
Spot on. Kamala eviscerated desantis' notion that slavery was a beneficial job training program for visiting Africans this past weekend.
She is an effective prosecutor when allowed to make her case.
The GOP is attempting to " Hillaryize" her with constant character attacks but time to take the gloves off.
Would love to see her debate Kim , Noem or Tim Scott on a VP stage.
She will take them apart just like she did pence.

Have to admire the writers effort there. It's a very fancy way of saying "things are still bad but not as bad as they were 8 months after Biden took office, which is good!!

I'm afraid the GOP argument isn't going to be neutralized until the metrics match peak trump economy, or even "when trump left office" would be a great start.

I still think Dems will be running on identity politics in 2024, though I'd love to be wrong.
The peak Trump economy was about a year after he went in office. Something that is 100% the work of Obama, not Trump. The fact that conservatives constantly lie to themselves about stuff like this is why they can't seem to figure out that conservative economic policies are an abysmal failure and always, always lead to an economic crisis of one form or another.

How does gerrymandering effect a presidential election?
It allows for wildly non-representative state legislative districts that lead to non-representative legislatures that then pass sweeping voter suppression laws that target specific Democratic voting blocks to make it as painful, difficult, and risky as possible to vote. Florida and Texas are the best examples of how effective this is.

I wouldn't give him all the credit but maybe he did a good job hiring people that know what they are doing in their respective fields, something not seen under Trump. You can drain the swap but you still have to put people in who know what they are doing. Putting one of the most gifted surgeons and health care specialists in housing will always be a mystery to me.

I'm certainly not a Kamala Harris fan by any means but ultimately the VP doesn't do a ton. The other cabinet positions are doing fine. I'm glad the numbers are trending in the right direction. That's good for America.

That's like the main part of the job, to preside over the executive branch by appointing competent people.

Could you name these “painful, difficult and risky” measures? I live in Florida and it’s pretty friggin easy to vote.

Jimmy Carter (more or less) inherited a country broken by Watergate.

Clinton inherited a recession.
Obama inherited a major recession.
Biden inherited a recession, among other major problems.

Bush Jr. and Trump were both handed a gold star economy on a freakin’ silver platter.

Give it up Cons, Dems own you. They’ve had to save your bacon at least 3 times in the last 30 years.

There are many ways but the one I was referring to was the one where people could be arrested and thrown in jail for voting in Florida. Sure, this applies to Republican voters too but I'm sure it will be applied completely equally to people with Republican demographics as it is to with Democratic demographics.
