GOP already blowing a hole in our budget. Advances massive $340 billion new spending bill.

If you don’t think it’s both sides you’re a friggin moron.

No offense.

Okay, so besides THINKING this is a both sides issue, where on this chart do you think supports your position? I've stated before, Trump got hit with and was unprepared to handle COVID. That created an issue Biden had to navigate. They both get some form of a pass for 20/21 +, but, that aside, where on this chart outline the last 35 years supports your position?

@hawkeyetraveler

Here is your problem:

Mandatory spending (SS, Medicare, veteran benefits, etc): $3.8 trillion

Mandatory when you have money and Mandatory when you are broke are different things.

When the mortgage industry was making money hand over fist my sister would have told you her 200 dollar a week eyelashes were "Mandatory" for maintaining an image.
If politicians are willing to pull the plug on Grandmas social security and her Medicare we could find the money there without a tax increase for sure. But that is career suicide regardless of party affiliation and no one is going to do that. Those programs enjoy incredible popularity.

Not to mention the disruption to society…who will house the elderly, who is going to pay for their healthcare, etc.

If America votes for politicians who promise to cut those programs so be it…that is one way to skin the cat. I just don’t see that happening. So we are back to square one. The only way this works is to cut some spending and raise some taxes. Americans won’t agree to only one or the other, we are too divided.

I do indict Biden and Harris and every other damned politician that doesn’t address the largest issue our country faces,
Yep and we’re F’d. We’re on track for a $2B+ deficit in a “good” economy. Insanity

First qrtr of the FY25.

The federal budget deficit totaled $710 billion in the first quarter of fiscal year 2025, the Congressional Budget Officeestimates. That amount is $200 billion more than the deficit recorded during the same period last fiscal year

For @Huey Grey and @Tom Paris the first FQ of 2025 is Oct-Dec 2024 in case you were about to post something stupid. You’re welcome.

You’re welcome.

Respectfully, I feel like "social security" and "medicade" are the shields the politicians hide behind.

3.8 trillion isn't going there, there are other ancillary expenditures.

DOGE promised to cover these costs. We've granted them access to literally everything. Even your social security number. And they haven't done anything but get caught in a massive lie about actual numbers.
What the actual F? The whole damn government has access to your social security number. If you think your data is private for even a moment youre kidding yourself.

Funny how Democrats are all about privacy all of a sudden. Weird.

Besides, Elon and Co. are going to need my SS number to send me my DOGE dividend. :)

If you can find another 1-1.7B of cuttable expenditures in the non discretionary spending you should be nominated for a Nobel prize in economics and the Presidential Medal of Freedom. That would be wonderful. I can’t find it personally, but then I’m not an auditor nor am I an expert in the ins and outs of that spending.

But have at it…the government needs all the help they can get.

Yeah but is it really worth pursuing with a POTY award available right here in front of me?

I'm hoping Doge brings some of these things to light.

We'll let you handle the okay with authoritarianism bullshit.

We shall see. Project 2025 is clearly the goal and Project 2025 would seek to eliminate the choice of abortion.
Yep! Project 2025 is a red herring, right bins? He just can't admit he's wrong. He can't do it.

Oh, times are NOT normal. Trump is horrible

Like I said, the filibuster will come in handy.

How much confidence do you have that the filibuster will stand under this regime? Clearly the don't care for checks and balances already. The trash that has been confirmed so far also doesn't lend much confidence. If Trump wants the filibuster removed they probably will.

I’ll take that bet. They’ll leave it to the states.

What a fantasy.

Aged pretty well. The filibuster will come in pretty handy the next couple years.

Good thing Harris didn’t get her way
I don't know. Trump just says he wants something done and it happens without ever having to go through Congress so the filibuster might end up being completely inconsequential, or only really a tool for Republicans to use when they are in the minority because Democrats try to run their ideas through Congress for some silly reason.

Until Joe Biden, budget deficits decreased under a Democratic president since Clinton.

Both parties have a spending problem. The difference is Republicans give massive tax breaks to the wealthy (that don’t pay for themselves) while continuing to spend like Democrats.
The first four years of the Obama administration deficits over $1 trillion annually for the first time ever.....NOT decreasing!

I'm not surprised you don't acknowledge why so much money had to be spent during his first term. Especially since 3/4 of a trillion were spent to bail out the banks by itself.

Just wait until we see record deficits and a bad economy. Because Trump's mismanagement will ensure that it's coming.

Here is a graph that gives a bit more information and probably counters your bothsides perspective. Look for the areas where the trend is decreasing.

This is exactly why true fiscally responsible minded voters hold there nose on some of the social issues for the sake of the fiscal differences between the 2 parties. this isn't a both sides you can win.
Maybe it is Bill Clinton who should get a 3rd term.

Of course he doesn’t give a crap about them. The first time D’s filibuster something we’ll revisit. 😊
OH. So you're waiting to be right about something before you "revisit", instead of just admitting you've been wrong about what Trump and the Heritage Foundation is trying to do. It seems as if you think the Republicans aren't going to ban abortion nationwide...if you think they won't you're truly out of your mind. They will never ever stop trying to end abortion.
