GoT, Season 5, Episode 9.....Spoilers? Yup.

Hizador is stabbed to death during this melee, making it clear that he didn't have anything to do with it.

You sure about that?

Him showing up late made me suspect he had a part in it...have never trusted him...and the look on his face was a "not me you morons" as he was hacked up...

So we start off with fires rising up at Stannis's camp. Which seemingly come out of nowhere. Apparently Ramsays little 20 man raid was quite successful. Melisandre looked on with disbelief and surprise. Apparently her visions missed out on this moment.

Jon makes it back to the wall with the surviving wildlings and nights watch. The Nights watch seem none too pleased, and are in awe of Wun Wun the giant. The kid that keeps bitching about the wilding issue is noticeably upset and gives Jon a nasty look, that Jon takes notice of.

Stannis sends Davos to the Wall to 'get more men and food'. Davos claims that a simple messenger could do this very same thing, and that the Hand of the king should stay by the Kings side. Stannis says that he still wishes him to go..... the real reason is found out later.......

Davos speaks with Shireen and gives her a gift before going. Stannis also has a conversation with his daughter,...that leads him to having her walked to a fire pit, and set ablaze by Melisandre. Stannis's wife decides she actually does like her daughter and tries to intervene. The troops stop her and we get to witness a sweet little girl die a horrible fiery death. Very disturbing moment here....Davos being sent was likely to keep him from interfering. This sacrifice was done to supposedly get the Lord of Light to help in the coming battle against the Boltons. Oh GoT,.....so silly.

Arya approaches her first target in Braavos. Whilst on the way to do the deed, she sees Lord Tyrell and Marty Trant or whatever his name his. Who just so happens to be on her list. She deviates from the mission to follow them and see what they are up to. They appear to be there to talk to the Iron Bank, and stay in a brothel. She is seen by the men, but they do not recognize her. She seemingly forms a plan to get to him, by using his 'taste' for 'young' girls.

.....and finally on to Mereen. The main fighting colosseum is now open, and Dany, Tyrion, Missandei, Daario, and Hizador are sitting and watching along with thousands of spectators. After the first fight, which ends in a beheading, a new group of fighters line up and they include Jorah.

After a long fought battle Jorah wins, and begins to approach the stand with Dany, who is noticeably impressed but confused by what to do. Jorah grabs a spear and throws it her way,...but not at her, but at one of the masked Harpy sons that was sneaking up behind her.

Daario turns to look behind them and notices that they are completely surrounded by hundreds of Harpy sons. The Harpy sons immediately start killing anyone in their way, including the unsullied. It becomes a massacre and it is clear that they are f'd. Dany during this, excepts Jorahs help with a smile on her face and they try to escape. Hizador is stabbed to death during this melee, making it clear that he didn't have anything to do with it.

Eventually they are overwhelmed, as hundreds more Harpy sons come into the colosseum. They are now surrounded with nowhere to go. Dany grabs Messandeis hand as she seems to accept her fate. Out of nowhere you hear a dragon roar.

Here comes ol' Drogon, and he's not too pleased that these masked fiends are trying to shank his mother. He immediately and literally begins to tear into the harpy sons, setting them on fire as well. He makes most of them run away, and some manage to throw spears and wound the Dragon.

Dany approaches and the dragon roars in her face, but then shows his affection and they reconnect. She quickly climbs onto Drogons back and off she flies away...as Tyrion and company look in awe....

Pretty good episode. I knew that Drogon was going to show up, but it was still f'n awesome to see. Interesting to see if they stay with the books with where she goes or not.

*****SPOILERS****** Don't read my reply if you don't want open discussion and predictions:

I think they did a tasteful job of not showing Shireen burning; just her horrible pleas and screams were more than enough. If they showed her actually burning, it would cause more outrage that the Stansa defilement did.

My bet is that Ser Davos goes Rambo on the Red Witch and then Stannis when he returns. Total lack of humanity on Stannis' part.

I expected Drogon to be bigger by now. A couple of well-placed lances really wounded him. His dragonscale is not fully grown and hardened yet. Still, an impressive ending. Reminded me of the dragons in the Matthew Mc/Christian Bale movie a few years ago. Drogon 'walked' like the fnal male dragon did in that flick.

Notice Tyrion saving Missandei from the sword? I'll bet ol' Tyrion will want a piece of that if she's willing to show her gratitude.

Where were the rest of the unsullied? They should have all be near the coliseum for security.

Jorah fully redeemed.

Dany now has plenty of good advisors at her disposal. Don't waste them.

Arya going to 'try on someone elses face' to get close enough to slit the throat of the old perv on her list?

Pretty good bet episode 10 plays out mainly in Kings Landing. Cersei doing the 'crawl of shame' as has been hinted since season 5 filming began?

The actor who plays Pod said during an interview that episode 10 will cause GoT fans to 'break the internet' with their responses.

My guesses - Cersei gets naked for a long stretch and Jon Snow bites the big one (for the time being).

There's one thing that I want to happen, that I really hope happens. A certain stone I hope that gets cast.

Cersei doesn't crawl, she walks.

Even GRRM had to be like, WTF?, when he read the HBO script about Shireen. HBO has some balls to pull that ish. Like Arya, she was one of the few 'untouchable' in the book.

So they don't burn her in the book? How many of the story lines are still cannon at this point?

He isn't dead, even by GOT standards. He's still staggering around holding his wound the last time we see him.

What bothered me a bit was how vulnerable Drogan seemed to be. A couple of spears and he was hurting.

Actually, it was GRRM who recommended the Shireen burning at the stake scene. Apparently the showrunners were shocked. Read it here from The Atlantic roundtabe discussion:

In the post-episode HBO interview, the showrunners indicated that this death came on orders from George R.R. Martin and that it freaked them out as well, but that it makes sense in the universe of the show. Indeed, Stannis has been set up as someone who relishes making the hard and personally wounding choices. He believes that becoming king is not only his destiny, but something that has to happen for the good of the realm. And after Melisandre’s smoke baby, the leeches, and the failure at Blackwater, he has reason to believe in the power of fire magic. The final conversation between him and his daughter offered the finest acting yet from Stephen Dillane, who showed a mix of duty and despair via gravelly voice and sad eyes. Unfortunately, it was Kerry Danielle Ingram’s best scene to date as well. Shireen’s intelligence and attitude is so charming that you can’t help but yearn for her to live and join Arya and Tyrion in the “cripples, bastards, and broken things” Westerosi justice league.

EDIT: Sorry, didn't read the previous post before posting this. But that's the interview I was referring to.

I think Stannis might burn her in the next book. I read an interview with the HBO show runners and they said they were shocked when GRRM told them that's what he had in mind for Stannis/Shireen. That being the case, I just can't root for Stannis any more. At the end of ADWD I was really hoping he could retake Winterfell and flay Ramsay Bolton, but now I can't figure out who to root for in that conflict. Sort of the nature of the series really.

It is kind of like choosing between jihadists that lacks all empathy towards all men who don't share their beliefs (Stannis) and a psychopath like Jeffrey Dahmer (Bolton(s)). One side has principles, but can do more damage because while it is effing crazy it is organized and is pursuing a claim to the throne, but the other side is simply evil but acting relatively alone (or at least in a relatively minor house in the grand scheme of things). I hope Dany burns them all with dragon fire.

The only ones that are still close is Jon, Arya but she doesnt go after the dudes, Cersei, Stannis but he doesnt torch his daughter, Bran which is why we havent seen him in the show. Dany is close but off at the same time

Sansa, Jaime, Brienne, are off and combining stories of new characters that have never been introduced also other characters have just never been brought up in the show

I like how the show is still keeping the main characters the focus, rather than trying to catch people up on twists in the storyline with new people, and also going off on their new path but its not too far off
