Losing CMac early forced Fran to patch it together, and he did. Wasn't shy about putting Ullis and Perkins in early. Took out players who weren't up to the task today. Went with the guys getting it done. Called a great TO when things broke down that last possession.

4 of the 6 freshmen saw important minutes. On the road! Portends good things for Iowa.

I agree because Fran did what I said he should have done vs. Minnesota--play Keegan Murray significant minutes AND use Ulis and Perkins for short stretches to inject energy and defense.

Bringing in Connor for the last inbounds play ... :)

Very important play and Conner has the experience. He obviously was not going to receive the inbounds unless they do that in bounds switch play. Great game, albeit nail biter!

Fran has to be in the B1G and National Coach of the Year conversation ;)

Look for an announcement soon where Fran has signed an RELB (raise, extension, larger buyout) ;)

It worked out giving Ullis and Perkins their first serious minutes in a really huge game. So credit to Fran for pulling out the win. I personally would have been giving Ullis and Perkins some PT earlier in season in real games. I don't think it makes sense to wait until you have guard injuries to give them baptism by fire---Iowa was always one twisted ankle away from being low on guard depth.

Ulis is a different type of PG than Jbo or joeT or Connor. He really look like he knows how to run a team.

I liked the younger guys getting more minutes today. Keagan makes a major difference. One item, Fran needs to get out of that zone defense. Use a different zone or just go man, but that zone defense is horrendous.

Great OP. Fran deserves a lot of credit for having the stones to bring in Ulis and Perkins while trailing on the road to a good team. It paid off, and then some. He also drew up some great plays down the stretch and specifically - the play ending in Bohannon’s fadeaway jumper and the final defensive play were fantastic
