Jarrod Bullard had just been asked by a reporter what his fiancée, Patrice, thinks of this obscure hobby of his, this video game that takes up all of his free time. In a moment of serendipity, she beeped in on the other line.

"Hold on," he said in a moment he would quickly regret, "I'll let you get her opinion on it."

"It's a labor of love. I love the game. I love college football."NCAA Football fan Jarrod Bullard
Just like that, Patrice was off and running, noting how Bullard's level of dedication is akin to an actual relationship. All that time he spends deciphering clips on YouTube and poring over preseason college football magazines? All those numbers he inputs? It takes months -- "Months!" she reiterated -- for him to finish.

And for what?

"After all of this and putting in all the information, did you know he doesn't even play the game?" she said.

She can't wrap her head around why a video game -- let alone one that's no longer in production -- demands so much of his attention. She calls him "crazy and obsessed" with EA Sports NCAA Football.

He just can't (or won't) let it go.

Just heard on the radio two nights ago that everything is a go for the game but it is being held up by the presidents of the universities. They are worried about the paying players issue.
Tell them no and to deal with it.

Better yet, allow them to make money by playing the game competitively, as E-gamers, since that is a thing that millenials do now........

1. Create new video game with no or generic players/rosters.
2. Make available current players/rosters for download.
3. University get's percentage of money for downloaded players/rosters.
4. University gives equal share of money to each current player on the roster regardless of fame or year of downloaded roster.

I shared this roster on page 150 of that Operation Sports thread. All the heights and weights come from the Spring game roster or in the case of true freshman, from their Rivals recruiting profiles. Let me know if I've forgotten anyone or if something looks out of order and I'll go back and change it. One of the mods there liked my post so I assume they'll get to Iowa's roster soon and use this as a basis.

I had not heard of Gridiron Champions until now.

After reading the internet, I doubt that game ever comes to market.

I thought it was originally coming out this year. Now that I see this isnt coming out until 2020 I agree with you. I feel like EA will have a shot to get their stuff in by then.

I wouldn't get my hopes up.

In this thread on reddit, a guy who works for EA Sports (worked on the NCAA Football games for almost 10 years) makes it seem like college football games are done, at least where EA Sports is concerned. Take a look.

As things stand right now, it is politically and legally untenable for a company like EA to make a CFB game. Something has to change about paying players in the next 5 to 10 years, and maybe that will allow CFB games to be produced once again.

The Gridiron Champions game is entirely built around avoiding copyright issues. They allow users to change schools, stadiums, players, everything. The entire existence of the game is an end run around copyright issues, and then claiming it is first amendment rights for users to upload logos, names, etc. I see them getting a world of hurt legally if they ever actually produce a game.
