Gulf of Mexico (Gulf of America)

Y'all are lucky he didn't didn't rename it the "Gulf of Trump".
Do what this guy should do.

Why would we want Baja California? Have you ever been there?

And that’s saying nothing about the stupidity of stealing land from other countries.

Did the Gadsden Purchase elicit strong feelings from you in school?
Did they cover it?

Not sure why this is such a big deal. The Persian Gulf was renamed the Arabian Gulf and nobody through a fit about that. Shit gets changed all the time
Not unilaterally because of the ramblings of a cult leader. It appears there is not unanimity on the Persian/Arabian Gulf debate. International bodies decide on name in many cases, and the Gulf of Trump will not stand the test of time.

Didn't even realize that was a thing. But much like how Twitter will always be Twitter to me, I'm not calling it the Arabian Gulf.

And the point is, shit can also get changed back in due time once a certain person is no longer President.

So in a sense, yes, there is no need to make a big deal about this. Well done! ;)

Of course it won't because it's not named the Gulf of Trump. And why shouldn't it be called the GofA? We have a much longer coast than Mexico. It's only fair.

Mexico

Mexico has a coastline of 5,800 kilometers along the Gulf of Mexico. The country’s Gulf of Mexico coastline is a significant source of natural resources, including oil and gas, fishing, and tourism.

United States

The United States has a coastline of approximately 9,157 kilometers along the Gulf of Mexico. The country’s Gulf Coast is a vital hub for oil and gas production, shipping, and tourism.

It's been the Gulf of Mexico for 500 years. Shit doesn't get changed all the time. Especially for a felon.
Sure it does. Also, by changing the name, he can now go ahead and drill in the Gulf of America, not the Gulf of Mexico.

He's always five steps ahead of everybody. You guys are focused on the name and he's playing the long game of oil drilling.

And well done to you as well. You proved my point by agreeing with me. Wink.

do you really think what people call the gulf has any impact on drilling rights?

you can't really think that...you're joking about that part, right?

haha...good one!

Illinois governor declares Lake Michigan is now Lake Illinois

“A great lake deserves to be named after a great state.”

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WILX) - Another body of water is getting a new name - at least according to Illinois.

In a social media post, Governor JB Pritzker announced the changes come after decades of studies.

“I’m here today to make an important announcement,” Gov. Pritzker started. “The world’s finest geographers, experts who study the Earth’s natural environment, have concluded a decades-long council and determined that a great lake deserves to be named after a great state. So today, I’m issuing a proclamation declaring that hereinafter, Lake Michigan shall be known as Lake Illinois. The proclamation has been forwarded to Google to ensure the world’s maps reflect this momentous change.”

Wisconsin - notably Green Bay - wasn’t safe from Gov. Pritzker’s announcement either.

“In addition, the recent announcement that protect the homeland, the United States will be purchasing Greenland ... Illinois will now be annexing Green Bay to protect itself against enemies, foreign and domestic,” Pritzker said in the video, featuring a Green Bay Packers logo. “I’ve also instructed my team to work diligently to prepare for an important announcement next week regarding the Mississippi River. God bless America and bear down. Thank you.”

The Mississippi River makes up the state’s western border between Iowa and Missouri.

Noting the “bear down” part of his announcement, a well-known slogan among Chicago Bears fans, it appears the video and proclamation is a satirical response to President Donald Trump’s earlier executive orders renaming the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America and returning Alaska’s Mount Denali to Mount McKinley.

News 10 has reached out to the offices of Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers for a response but has not yet heard back.
