Recently moved to a neighborhood that is a “destination” neighborhood (people give full-sized candy bars, etc) for trick-or-treaters. Cars parked everywhere from the travelers. Creates traffic jams and makes it dangerous for kids to cross streets.

And then?

You should see Highland Park in Dallas. It's insane. They bring kids from other parts of Dallas in on buses. My previous employer would decorate their foyer with skeletons, tombstones, spider webs, and all that. They even had a smoke machine. Kids had to walk through the cemetery to get the treats. It was so busy, the kids were lined up 20-30 deep to get in. They hired armed security to pass out the candy. And it was like that all over the neighborhood. A guy on the next block put up a giant movie screen in his yard and was showing horror movies.

I lived in Far North Dallas (Prestonwood Creek) and we also had church vans from less fortunate areas bring kids to our neighborhood to trick or treat. I didn't mind at all. They had a safe place to trick or treat, they were supervised by adults, and they all said THANK YOU.

I saw the epitome of a helicopter parent last night. Mom and Dad drove the kid, stopped the car, parked, got out and walked up to each house with their kid. Now what was weird was Mom was dressed up herself as the female from the Roger Rabbit Movie...you dress in a super sexy costume like that (she carried it off very well too) but hover over your kid....

We saw a toddler being escorted by about 10 people. I'm guessing new parents with both grandparents and a few hangers-on. It was comical. Everyone was in costume though, so that was nice.

can we get a Ring security doorbell screen shot?

My problem is left over candy. I just moved to a new neighborhood a couple months ago. I was talking to a neighbor and asked how many trick or treaters they would get, explaining that I have lived in a neighborhood where it was around 120 and my last neighborhood was only 30-40.
He told me that it was 120-130 each year (turns out he was just guessing and not very well).
I always give out full size Hershey bars and bought 144 (26 six packs of bars).

The problem is there were only 55 trick or treaters last night. Now I need to figure out what to do with 88 (I had one last night) extra full size Hershey bars.

The kid with the hovering super sexy mom deserves more candy than the kid who shows up solo to the door. I'm pretty sure mom knew what she was doing. The kid gives her a 10%cut of his/her candy and 100% of the Crunch bars and Milky Ways.

If they have a sweet-tooth, Halloween is a brief opportunity for a parent to see tangible returns on their investment (the kid).

Yeah, we always have kids from other neighborhoods. I feel the same way about them as I drop about teenagers trick or treating….
Here, have some candy!
I really need to change my attitude to yours on this topic. Not gonna lie.

When I was younger I used to get indignant about it, but it's~$25 worth of candy and they're kids. Who cares where they live or how old they are. Let them enjoy being kids on Halloween, hell I enjoy it as much as they do.

and no pic. Of mom or cartoon.

Nothing is surprising because, on Halloween, travelers gather at their homes. Halloween unites everyone.
I adore Halloween and prepare very carefully for this holiday. I want my children to feel the whole atmosphere of this holiday, and I do it all mainly for them. I even bought pumpkin & sunflowers coloring by numbers for kids. However, I am more interested in this.
Well, maybe there are some dangerous moments for children because of the large congestion of cars. However, this is not new. You can walk around the neighborhood with your children to be calmer.
