Gonna be glorious after Nattys to see if that holds up.
I'll either be eating crow or an insufferable prick.
Edit to add, several posters probably already think I'm an insufferable prick.
Well that didn’t age well. ; )ISU @ 6th is more a testament to the lack of quality opponents ………… Missouri would all beat ISU in my opinion.
Yeah. Another dominating 1 point win. And Hart didn't go for Missouri?Well that didn’t age well. ; )
Poking the Bear.Yeah. Another dominating 1 point win. And Hart didn't go for Missouri?
LOL.
Again, and you know I'm right...ISU doesn't even finish in the top half if they wrestle a B1G schedule.
I followed on CF tonite. You seldom see stall calls 15 seconds apart that sent 197 to OT.
Really wanting to see Dresser's juggernaut at Nattys.
I wonder if the check cleared? The official scorer had the stall calls 8 seconds apart.
All Elam had to do was drop in on Bastida's leg and hold on for 8 seconds. Instead he just ran away from Yonger. You don't often see stall calls that close together, but you also don't often see wrestlers just run backwards from a guy without getting hit for stallingI wonder if the check cleared?
To me...if you've worked hard enough to have a 2 pt lead late in the 3rd period, you're entitled to slow down the action.
Two calls that close together are unheard of. That was bs.All Elam had to do was drop in on Bastida's leg and hold on for 8 seconds. Instead he just ran away from Yonger. You don't often see stall calls that close together, but you also don't often see wrestlers just run backwards from a guy without getting hit for stalling
You know damn well if Yonger was an Iowa wrestler in the same situation in Carver, no Hawkeye fans would be disagreeing with the stall calls, and probably would've been calling for a stall out from Elam the last 30 seconds of the matchTwo calls that close together are unheard of. That was bs.
I'm assuming Big12 officials and others are still bitter regarding Missouri leaving the conference in other sports.
ISU was gifted that dual.
Just stop. You know damn well if Yonger was an Iowa wrestler in the same situation in Carver, no Hawkeye fans would be disagreeing with the stall calls, and probably would've been calling for a stall out from Elam the last 30 seconds of the match
Maybe their names are hard to pronounce..Just stop.
Stall calls 8 seconds apart is never called. OK, it was called once to gift ISU.
As I said, Elam wrestled well enough, early, and most refs would do the courtesy stall call and let it go. There seems to be a clear bias against Missouri here.
Your claim about Hawkeye fans is nothing more than another case of penis envy.
And WTF is wrong with Clone fans that wrestlers are referred to as "the Hawaiian", the "Russian", and the "Cuban"? Freaking rednecks!
Does that sound suspicious to anyone? Seems fast to me.The official scorer had the stall calls 8 seconds apart.
It could be for stupid rednecks. Bastida doesn't seem difficult. Terukina doesn't seem too hard.Maybe their names are hard to pronounce..
No one was a run out of bounds so a edge stall call. The other was him running backwards to stay out of a control tie. Both were totally warrantedDoes that sound suspicious to anyone? Seems fast to me.
You are right, we would be calling for stalling. The problem is we would only get 1, not 2 that fast. It was crazy that they called 2 that fast, but they were deserved imo.You know damn well if Yonger was an Iowa wrestler in the same situation in Carver, no Hawkeye fans would be disagreeing with the stall calls, and probably would've been calling for a stall out from Elam the last 30 seconds of the match
Hey don’t be bringing facts to this discussionNo one was a run out of bounds so a edge stall call. The other was him running backwards to stay out of a control tie. Both were totally warranted
Have YOU ever seen or heard of stalling calls that close?Mitch you are in rare form today buddy.

Not an ISU lover but Bastida is a guy people better have their radar on. He is the best in the field from neutral, good quick shots and hard to take down. His bottom game has improved enough to get by but he rarely ends up having to use it.
I actually watched the match. Elam got called for fleeing the mat first completely legit call.Have YOU ever seen or heard of stalling calls that close?
That's the crux of this discussion. Whether it was deserved or not, it never happens.
In a meaningless dual, why make that call?I actually watched the match. Elam got called for fleeing the mat first completely legit call.
At the restart Elam went backwards and circled around the mat with his arms straight out in front holding on to the shoulders. It was legit stalling. At least Gomez sort of engaged with Turk, Elam ran backwards at an arms length away.
Now did I think the ref had the balls to call it is another question. : )
Just not true. I recently saw a match in which a wrestler was rightfully called for stalling, then nearly immediately called again for fleeing the mat.Just stop.
Stall calls 8 seconds apart is never called.
Surtin got robbed of a pin over Terukina tooYeah. Another dominating 1 point win. And Hart didn't go for Missouri?
LOL.

It looks like the Big12 higher ups might have sensed it was good for the conference to have a league team finish undefeated after the debacle with Okie State.Surtin got robbed of a pin over Terukina too
Lets see if sharing a video from Google Drive works here.I actually watched the match. Elam got called for fleeing the mat first completely legit call.

What I thought. Obvious, but hardly blatant.Lets see if sharing a video from Google Drive works here.
If it does, this is the last 13 seconds of regulation after a restart, plus the overtime. The first stalling is at 9 seconds and is 100% justified. Rarely do you see backing out that blatant not called. The second one is more questionable since it is only 8 seconds removed and is often not called. You can see Elam is trying to circle hard, but is again backing up hard. It happens with 1 second on the clock. That said, I'm all for more liberal use of stalling so I am not going to complain at all.
I’d love to see your thoughts on the shitty stall call Yonger got hit with in the first. Or the third as well. What I thought. Obvious, but hardly blatant.
We've all seen worse.
LOL
Bet Elam now has some motivation in a rematch.
This is the kind of shit we'd expect from Angel.
Haven't seen video outside of what's on in post #71.I’d love to see your thoughts on the shitty stall call Yonger got hit with in the first. Or the third as well.
I only have it in me to post video once every 15 years and I just hit my quota.Haven't seen video outside of what's on in post #71.
The Mitch rules only apply to ISU coached by Dresser and occasionally MinnesotaAfter watching the video, I think the stalling calls were correct. But I wasn't aware of the mitchLL rule? if you worked hard enough through two periods and through most of the 3rd the ref shouldn't call stalling? I thought this was an Iowa board where you wrestle through the whistle.
I've always felt that the guy that pushed the action early has earned the chance to protect a lead late. After watching the video, I think the stalling calls were correct. Hamiti is very good. just watched him dominate # 13 Yant at UNI. Love to see him in the portal for Iowa at 157, hell I'd take him at 165 next year.Hamiti is good. We will all see how good very soon.
