Why can't college basketball tighten up on the hand checking and grabbing when guards are taking the ball down the court. Seems every game the refs allow the D to be handsy with the primary ball handler.

Coaches like Izzo are committed to it because they know the refs won't call it consistently. Even if they get called 8-10 times for it the ability to knock a team off its offense outweighs the fouls. Teams need to constantly run back screens against it to knock the defender off. Iowa doesn't screen.
It’s not a tough call to make, either. Some years they call it early in the season, but it always seems to go away during conference play because teams like MSU get the no call.
Instead of letting Izzo types wear down the refs, the refs should wear down Izzo types.
NCAA was supposed to crack down on it. They did for part of a year, then ignored it again.
You're not wrong, but the ref can't become the story. If a ref went out of their way to call it against Izzo to stick it to him, it would be a huge story and the ref would be suspended or fired.
The refs would just be making the calls as per the rules. The grabs on JBo were easy calls and would not have been controversial.
JBo always has to stick out a chicken wing beause guys are reaching in and hitting him contantly when he dribbles the ball up the court. He gets beat up every game.
Mine don't lick themselves. True story. The sound triggers a misophonia rage for me so I trained that out of them.
I don't need to see Izzo licking the refs and vice versa.

I took a storage bin and cut a hole in it that the cat could get into but the dog couldn't and put it over the litter box. That ended that part of my life.
it hacked me off that they kept dwelling on the 3-pt shot foul on JB after the non-calls all game for TN and the cheap fouls on IA all game. I feel really bad for our players.
