Has any reason ever been given for no logo at Mid-field in Kinnick?

The U of I Grounds crew posted a very sweet looking pic on twitter this morning of the touched up baseball field outfield logo of the Tiger Hawk in black and trimmed in yellow. The pic looks absolutely awesome - I'm curious to know if anyone has ever heard a logical reason why the Tiger Hawk logo has never made it's way to mid-field at Kinnick?

Put it in Kinnick!

By the way....Paint the Water tower with the logo too.

I'm all on board with putting a tiger hawk at midfield. It's one of the recognizeable logos in college athletics and it needs to be seen.

That's a good question, I personally don't care that much either way but would be curious as to the reason its not there. I personally would rather see something a little more unique like smaller tigerhawk logos near each hash mark on the 35 yard line on both sides....that might be cool and/or unique

I absolutely love the baseball caps with the "I" on them - so much so I own a black cap and a gold cap. Tiger hawk caps look stupid.

Kinda feel the same way about the football field and which logo could be used. To me, the tiger hawk looks good on the football helmets, period.

I agree with him about hats. I've owned countless 'I' hats over the years, but zero with the tiger hawk on the front. I just don't like how they look on the front of a hat.

I'm the opposite with a mid field logo though. Give me the tigerhawk or nothing. A large 'I' would look lame.

I've read on here that we are one of 2 FBS schools to have no logo.

Definitely need a Tigerhawk. Everyone else has a letter except for Sparty, because only Sparty has an emblem (almost) as cool as the Tigerhawk.

Back in the days of the natural grass field, I remember Barta stating the paint hurts the grass. Yet, the endzones were painted. When we put in the artificial surface, his argument fell apart. Since it still hasn't happened I think its clear it is because Barta just doesn't want it done. I have heard from several sources that it is Barta's call.
