They're probably waiting for a corporate sponsorship. How awesome would it be to see that sweet Mediacom on midfield.
I haven't confirmed it. But was told that one of the practice fields was painted with a tiger hawk at midfield during camp. The reason being that KF was assessing whether or not he liked it, and there was a possibility of adding one to Kinnick for next season.
Like I said, didn't see it myself, but I am pretty confident that it is true.
When you say Barta, you mean Kirk, right?Back in the days of the natural grass field, I remember Barta stating the paint hurts the grass. Yet, the endzones were painted. When we put in the artificial surface, his argument fell apart. Since it still hasn't happened I think its clear it is because Barta just doesn't want it done. I have heard from several sources that it is Barta's call.
Iowa had the logo long before Southern Miss.Looks too much like Southern Miss
No kiddingIowa had the logo long before Southern Miss.

Folks would be left wondering what Fred Flintstone's doing on the turf at Kinnick.Plus, professors are concerned it could further damage the psyche of the 1/2 the stadium, who have to look at it upside down.
Fans who are old enough remember that there used to be a block "I" at midfield in Kinnick back in the 70's, on that lovely astro turf. It looked OK by 70's standards. A Tigerhawk would look much cooler, no doubt.I agree with him about hats. I've owned countless 'I' hats over the years, but zero with the tiger hawk on the front. I just don't like how they look on the front of a hat.
I'm the opposite with a mid field logo though. Give me the tigerhawk or nothing. A large 'I' would look lame.
And don't ask me to explain myself, because I can't.
Now, that's hilarious! Looks great on the practice field. Wouldn't want it in Kinnick, though -- because it looks great on the practice field, after all.
