Between the new batch of stolen_valor_4_a_day / rico types spamming the usual nonsense (champwhammy, arbor, sullivan, lOUisana, etc), the old guard of MAGAs that pretend to not be MAGAs increasing their posting, our both sides binsies looking like they're jumping on the "winning" side, and folks like phenomenally going straight up nutso - it seems like maybe we've hit the balance in the force (or tipping to red even) folks like @Whiskeydeltadeltatango have longed for on HORT. A look at the first couple pages and the thread starters are pretty even good guys / bad guys. Also, the "r" word and it's "ard" variations appear to have spiked significantly and possible en vogue in the current conservative lingo (thanks Eloon). I mean, it's not a surprise considering who we're dealing with but @HawkeyeShawn must be going crazy.

I've only been back 24 hours, but am I misreading the HORT room?

Edit to add: I ignore no one so I get the full HORT experience.

Bothsidesians are always hard right

You can run another poll if you want, it was like 2 to 1 last time.

Good to see you back.

I walked away from that thread realizing that you boys are consistent. Just like all of you "didn't vote for Trump," my homework showed you boys didn't vote in that thread either. I understand why y'all didn't.

Thanks. It's good to be back.

This happened in 2016 too. MAGAs are feeling emboldened that they picked correctly between two choices when voting. Eventually harder to defend stuff will start happening, some of them will go back into the shadows, some will act like Trump's going too far on some stuff and lower their support or virtue signal on whichever policy or pick. We certainly have more outright trolls right now. Most of them eventually vanished last time too, but we had mods that would also drop perma bans instead of temp bans. We even have someone here that doxxed someone get a temp ban. We now have something that more like 4chan.

Who doxxed someone?

This reads like it was written in a chapter of the HORT history book. Well done young man, A+.

Prediction: The 4chan invasion of the _underscore_4_forevers and the obvious trolls (and subsequent lack of moderation) will be the killer of HORT.

This. As Trump spews more and more of ridiculous comments and ideas, the maga cult will become quieter.

It was a big part of the reason I for a chunk of time last year. I don't think it would take more than a few decent posters walking away to tank this place. HBOT has already slowed down a good bit, especially in the evening.

You'd think claiming Greenland and Canada for the US while saying he would change the name of the Gulf of Mexico would already have some of them scratching their heads, but they're too f-n stupid to process how utterly idiotic it is so they just scratch their asses, instead. They just chalk it up to a 4-D chess move by a genius to own the libs because they don't want to admit they voted for a certifiable idiot. Seventy million of your fellow Americans really are this moronic.

Move the Wordle thread and I'm gone. ;)

Yep. From what I'm seeing the 4chan boys are already turning their threads into circle jerks amongst themselves. And so many people are ignoring them when they invade decent threads they just bloat. I've seen this show before and I know how it ends. Unless the mods figure it out, RIP in pieces.

How many new diseases did you pick up while in Bharat?

Without doubt the dirtiest and nastiest nation on the face of the earth.

I will be honest, the Wordle and Putin threads keep me a regular, at this point. I still do enjoy the cooking/traveling/electronics threads. But alas, those are now few and far between.

I (obviously) have ALWAYS been a Trump supporter, and KNOW that he is the SMARTEST, KINDEST, FIERCEST, ATHLETIC, GENIUS man to ever be president. (All hail MAGA)

But, if I were to speculate, some liberals (boo, hiss) may be disillusioned that this country is worth saving and/or concerned about speaking up too much anywhere and ending up as an enemy of the state.

Again, pure speculation, I adore Trump, he’s the best. (Please put me on the “good” list when you read this Mr. CIA analyst…)

We'll see how things break in a short time. When a party has control of the Congress and the WH it can't play the victim card.

It's shit or get off the pot. No excuses. Now the Orange Turd has his "tyranny on Day 1".

Energy brings instant inflation relief.
Criminals flushed down the toilet.
Illegal immigration stopped dead in its tracks and the vermin purged from our society.
Pardon those participating in the effort he called to prevent the constitutional certification of the 2020 presidential election
Pull the U.S. out of NATO to ensure dictator triode he adores.
Continue the with mickey mouse cabinet and ambassador nominees to ensure future needs for recess appointments.

A trivial gaggle of inept zombies entrusted to manage this country. Phony salesmanship with a megaphone worked in 2015 due to the novelty. Voters forget he was distrusted and disliked and fell for his bullshit again. If it wasn't for stupid TV, their partners and conservative radio spewing lies and disinformation and portraying him as a victim, he would have not been an issue.

Despicable media requires despicable characters.

I check in far less now. There's just too many obvious troll accounts or flamers (to use an old forum term) to sift through. I've killed pretty much all of my social media now though, with the exception of some burner accounts that don't follow anything in case someone has an interesting link/article I want to see.

The negativity is too pervasive these days, and the platforms are not good enough when it comes to bots, troll farms, and AI generated nonsense.

People are losing their goddamn minds arguing with people online, and the person they are arguing with likely isn't real or is just trying to get a rise out of them. It's dumb.

Honestly, I don't really think most people on here are even interested in having a discussion, most threads just devolve into insults after a few replies and anything well thought out just gets ignored so people can keep trashing each other.

I miss the early internet where accessibility was more of a challenge.

Ahh well, all things have a life cycle.

This was the 2nd post in a thread about an Iowa man sexually assaulting an 11 year old girl. So maybe save us the indignation over righties ruining the board. This is what most threads have turned into over the last couple years.

I'd bet dollars to donuts you see one side "ruining the board" more than others. FWIW as I stated above I think it's actually a small segment of posters that will actually kill the board and in my 24 hours back they seem very active. For example, I have very minimal respect for you or your ideas but you're not a board killer. See, even I like to give compliments.

I'm not sure how Red its leaning, we just had a thread started calling his Aunt racists because she wouldn't vote for Harris.

A lot of those posters that the OP identified are easily ignored with nothing of value lost, you won't even realize they're here. A few others are just as trollish and sometimes muddle threads because some posters can't help but to engage, but not a big issue. That said, there's definitely some puffed out chests and proud losers, to be expected.

I don't think we'll see a similar exodus as the Trump clown show begins like we saw in 2017-2018. We mostly lost normal/reasonable conservatives who didn't/couldn't defend and endure it. We don't really have any of those left to lose anymore, for the most part at least, or at least ones that feel compelled to defend the clown show. Instead there's the cult, and radicalized types.

I also think there's a bunch of left leaning posters who used to post more about politics who are still in a DGAF mode and can't really be bothered to post as much - to a degree I'm in that camp - but I suspect they'll be back as the clown show begins to mock, parody, make fun of all the things that will certainly come out of the 2nd Trump term.

My perception for all my years on this board is that the 'side' not in power has more fun being on 'offense' than on 'defense' on the board. Trump isn't even in office yet, and the material to do it is plentiful (Renaming the Gulf, Canada, Canal, Greenland), if you feel like trolling someone, you can easily manipulate posters like Whiskey to get fixated with rapid fire posting.

And there's also something morbidly interesting following the radicalization of posters like Phenom.

My guess is all the Democrat handwringing will be rewarded by the end of the year.

As more and more congressional Republicans (it won’t take many) feel the wrath of their constituents, pissed off at the endless spending and constant, adolescent trolling by Trump, the Dems will find themselves basically in the majority as the Pubs split their loyalties.

Country’s still f***ed but there will be entertainment to be had as it implodes.

When people aren't talking to the AI girlfriend they need to argue with AI dissent daddy.

I do think about how small of an investment in bots it would be for people willing to give hundreds of millions to control the government. I have said it a few times, but the internet as a whole right now looks like the end of Yahoo! and AOL chatrooms looked. Maybe 5% of activity on those near the end were actual people.

Especially because he seemed to make a swing from conservative, to anti-Trump, to MAGA. The only constant in there is his Elon love.

I remember back in the day on Facebook watching some of the early pipelining of people. They have a few pretty simple techniques and one of those got leveraged massively in 2024. Back in 2008 or so the first pipelining groups I saw were holistic, vegan, and dietary type groups start off as normal groups and slowly end up as anarcho-crunchy groups and what became modern day RFK Jr voters. Someone like Phenom seems to have just followed a figure of authority for him into the abyss.

Deal with it. Trump wants to troll. We'll troll right back.
