Hawk Top 4 Scorers Against Northwestern

Question: Did CJ play too many minutes tonight? IMHO, he should've been taken out when we were up 17 with about 5 minutes to go. He played great but worried about his foot. Anyone pay attention to his movement late in the game?

He seemed to limp slightly (only once), but I'd have to rewatch the game to spot where I saw it. Wasn't terrible but I could tell maybe it bothered him.
Watched the game again and at 6:18 of the second half, the Hawks were bringing the ball up court and CJ trotted to the corner. I don't think it was a limp after seeing it again. It was more of a little bit winded gait.

Probably a valid question. He saw enough action. Less stress on the foot would not have hurt. But he was obviously cleared to play...
That noted, I would have liked to see Toussaint play those last 5 minutes. Have him dribble out the shot clock, and then run the show once it hit 10 seconds. The more experience at controlling the ball and not going a 100MPH for Joe would have suit me fine

I agree with Joe T getting those minutes but I love his 100 mph burst. I hate his shot selection/ finishing. Everytime he drives, my hope is for an offensive board because that layup isn't going down

Kriener had a very nice game and we really needed him with Luka in foul trouble. He is a very efficient offensive player and very talented. His four baskets last night showed his offensive versatility. His first basket was a incredibly tough left handed jump hook, then a text book right hand jump hook from 8 feet, then sticks a three, then to show off his sneaky athletic ability, he seals a guy on the inbound, jumps to his right to clear space and then straight up off of two feet for a thunderous dunk.

I mean the guy is shooting 62% from the field, 41.2 % from 3 and over 75% from the line. He gets the team 7.5 pts, and 4.5 rebounds in 16 minutes. That unbelievably productive.

So CJ doesnt run up and down for 9 days and goes on the road and gets 11 and 5 with two steals.....great defense....This is Frans best overall guard in his years at Iowa.

Pemsl also had another excellent game,.. the post feeds to Garza in the second half were text book...

He really is a luxury. He’d be the starting center on most Iowa teams I’ve seen over the past 40 years.

The Hawkeye 8 man rotation allows the
players to know they will get in the game
eventually. They just have to be prepared
for that opportunity. All of the players know
they are needed to make a contribution to
a Hawkeye victory

I think Kriener could start for most B1G teams. Also, I am not a Pemsl fan, but he does seem to be playing better. He had some nice passes but also some very bad ones. Needs to clean that up a bit and stop trying to be a point guard.

Be patient with Joe T. It will all start to come together. Too few minutes for him last night and too many for CJF just coming back.

The supporting cast for Garza was all pretty solid.
Still need to see more from Wieskamp. Luka knows, and has embraced, his role as the classic back to basket throwback center. Joe needs to embrace his role as the other primary scorer and show up consistently.
