Why does the Hawkeye AD make it so difficult to judge the success level of Iowa Football. Correct me if I am wrong but has anyone ever heard or read or have any knowledge at all of what our AD thinks is an acceptable win/loss record. Why is everything so vague in the performance reviews, contracts everything I have ever seen pertaining to Kirk Ferentz . Yes I know there is graduation clauses and Bowl clauses and bonuses but why is everything so vague when it comes down to what it takes to be called successful and keep your job.
I really think that the perception of success is so different between Barta, Ferentz the fans that it would benefit to be more specific so everyone has a certain point where they can say pass, fail etc... if I were to write the contract it would be of this nature and I am using the current rate of pay that Kirk has now.
Success is determined by a combination of two things. Both of these need to be accomplished consistently meaning 4 out of every 5 years or 80% of the time.
1) Win 75% of the overall regular season games scheduled each year.
2) Achieve team graduation rate average of 75%
3) Playoff and Bowl Game Winning percentage of 75% or better.
That means we are setting the standard for your current rate of pay and tenure st the following .
Win 9 regular season games a year for at least 4 of every 5 years.
Win 3 bowl games in 4 year period.
If you do not accomplish 9 wins say you average 7 or 8 wins every 5 years Your pay will be frozen your contract not extended and you are placed on a one year probation.
If you do not improve to the desired level after the probationary period you will be terminated .
