Mark Kallenberger committed to Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz today.

Bettendorf offensive lineman Mark Kallenberger has committed to the Iowa Hawkeyes. The 6-foot-6, 250-pound Kallenberger announced his decision on Twitter this morning after a visit to Iowa's spring practice.

A three-star prospect, Kallenberger chose Iowa over scholarship offers from Iowa State, Nebraska, Kansas State, Missouri, Western Michigan, Colorado State, and Eastern Michigan.

Kallenberger is the seventh commitment for the Iowa coaching staff in the Class of 2017, joining A.J. Epenesa, Juan Harris, Coy Kirkpatrick, Tristan Wirfs, Jacob Coons, and Djimon Colbert.

HawkeyeReport.com will have much more on Kallenberger and his decision shortly.

I love this commitment! Kallenberger has the body type and athleticism that Kirk and Doyle have had great success with. He has great leverage, good feet and an apparent mean streak. If he puts the work in, he is going to be a STUD!

Whatever. We always have good OL prospects.

I will care more when we get some decent skill position players.
I wouldn't really call this "whatever" because of the depth at tackle currently on the team, but I would agree, we need talented skill position players who can contribute right away.

'Whatever'? Did you look at his junior film? This kid beat EVERYBOY, and he took every contest personally. He drove EVERYONE either down the field or into the ground. He NEVER took a play off and never, ever stopped moving his feat until the whistle or the outright one-on-one victory. He maintained contact, even with smaller, quicker players, and moved with athleticism and grace in space. I mean, granted, his pad level is a little high and he's bigger than most of his competition (but with clear room to grow), but I haven't seen that many pancakes since Aunt Jemima was a teenager! 'Whatever'? What are you smoking? Welcome, Mark. You made a great choice, and those of us with a practiced eye in Hawkeye Nation are excited to have you and will remain behind you. Keep those great choices coming.

He's a very good addition without a doubt, but you're making these assumptions on a highlight film. I sure hope he looked perfect on every play on one of those.

I think this commit is the straw that breaks camels back, Eno to Iowa....seriously holy cow our 2017 class is starting to shape up very very nicely and our OL recruits=are you serious! This kid has frame, size, agility, and just simply looks like a dick (in a good way) on the football field! Looks like a legit 6"6", next great OT at Iowa!

Here's what Kallenberger said were two key factors in his decision.

"The stability at Iowa and knowing the coaches are not going to leave was huge for me. Also, Coach Doyle and his strength program is the best thing for me to develop me into a great offensive lineman."

Eno tweeted #SWARM earlier today.

And no, I don't follow or stalk HS kids...it was retweeted by a few sports writers in eastern IA

Not sure what the 1st part of that sentence is referring to. Mike Riley is a lock to be the head man at Nebraska for decades to come. :)

Well, this leaves only ten or so schollys left and this is supposed to be our big year after all the wins and the new facilities. Maybe the recruiting staff should slow down and pick about 20 4 stars and go after them hard. It is a long time before February. Lets start competing with the Big Boys and leave the MAC players for fallback. Iowa has much to offer skill players and DL's.

They are recruiting a lot of 4*'s, but you can't put all your eggs in that basket and be left with a bunch of 2*'s after the 3*'s that would have come here already committed somewhere else.
