yeah, probably not. Of course the staff wants to have kids challenge returning starters, but it would be incredible for a true freshman to come in and supplant Stanley after the year he put up this year and his room for improvement. Stanley certainly had some ups and downs as a first year starter, but he made some plays that very few can make and seems to have a very high ceiling. Petras will challenge Mansell for the backup position and we very well could see Petras do what Stanley did as a freshman, leapfrog a returning player to become the backup signal caller as a freshman. At least that is my impression.

For those who don't know, Jared Goff was the #2 pick out Cal by the Rams. Carson Wentz was the #1 pick out of NDSU by the Eagles. Both are in their 2nd seasons in the NFL. Eagles have the 1 seed at 10-2 in the NFC and the Rams have the 2 seed at 9-4.
Needless to say, Goff is pretty good

This is all Fake News. No way did Iowa sign a 4* QB from California, because Iowa can't recruit. Iowa doesn't wear alternative uniforms often enough, and they aren't sexy enough. KF never leaves the state because he's lazy and busy counting his money. Plus, Iowa hasn't won any Natties.

A couple of short thoughts/questions about the Big Ten recruitment rankings. What's going on at Maryland? Wow! Will Frost be able to drag the cornfusker's out of last place? I bet it did at least a little bit. The more success we have as far as winning games and putting players in the NFL, the bigger fish we can go after and potentially get to take looks at coming here that otherwise might not have even considered it

Thanks! We're pretty pumped, just got a QB ranked higher than any QB Minnesota has and higher at his position than any Minnesota recruit. Pretty exciting!
Rankings don't matter. We just got a bunch of huge 4 star lineman, and none of them have any leverage.

Not to introduce discord but if this kid is good enough to unseat Nate Stanley, as a true freshman, then he's one and done and Nate will be back in two years as the starter. Realistically, this kid will be competing for #2 Nate's senior year, which is, of course, exactly what we want.
