I'm kind of surprised Iowa is shutting down QB recruiting after this, I figured they would shoot a little higher coming off such a successful season.

Mansell's only in state offers are Abilene Christian, North Texas & Houston Baptist

Shimonek's only other option was Lamar..Mansell may not have other P5 options, but he had a few better options than Lamar...Davis took a chance on Shimonek...Shimonek took a chance going to Iowa..it didn't work out for both parties involved...it happens in recruiting at every campus in America.
Fwiw, as of a month ago,Shimonek was expected to be 2nd string for the Red Raiders..

Welcome aboard. Highlight videos always look great. That being said, I think we may have just landed a "steal." Seems like a good kid; dedicated, and I like any kid that comes from the great state of Texas.

I like seeing the Texas pipeline opened up more. Lots of talent to go around. QB seems to have enough wheels to avoid danger and I do like his "lively" arm.

Always like to welcome aboard any kid talented enough to earn a scholarship and don the black and gold.

The kids HS coach said Mansell can improvise and make plays when the play falls apart. That is the attribute that makes CJ a good QB. I think this kid is going to be a good solid 3* by season's end, and maybe a 4* on other sites. I think his coach also said they had a good run game to, so I think he is being penalized for the same things that some media writers are penalizing CJ for. Just my opinion.

I think you guys got a good one too. His numbers don't lie, and he still has his senior season to play. He's already 3*s on 24/7, and may add another if he has a great senior year.

Thats just recruiting in general. Plus he is a high 3 star on ESPN already. Not sure why people are hating on him already

There will be plenty of qb's available towards the end of the cycle..Kids will decommit due to a myriad of reasons...Some kids might be encouraged to look elsewhere (Jack Beneventi)...Blue bloods might find somebody they like better than what they have, and might let go of a quality player....Iowa gained Wiegers/CJB towards the end of the cycle due to coaching changes...To say Iowa is f'd if Mansell has a down year this fall....is kinda shortsighted...

After CJB we have Wiegers, Cook, Stanley, and now Mansell. Wiegers was 4 star (not that it matters) Cook is an athlete and has great frame, Stanley was said to have one of the best arms in the country last year, and I am sure we take a QB next year too and the year after, and after that. So lets pump the breaks a little bit

Exactly. Not too long ago there was speculation that Boyle had moved up to the #2 spot on the QB depth chart. Who knows where Boyle fits in in the upcoming years. The point is the QB position is not a huge concern right now. Some people just need to chill.
