Hawkeyes release preseason depth chart

Bingo!! These are strong kids that can get to the second level.
One can only assume that the staff let’s the player weigh 282 because he remains strong enough to get the push and leverage necessary.

Strength wasn’t being questioned. It was weight.

"incredibly light". incredibly LOL. Almost every OL in the two-deeps is in the 290s.... so what? They are skilled and obviously performing well at that weight. There is nothing magical about 300+ pounds - if there was my neighbor's 330lb high school kid would be hearing from all the major programs... instead he is a back-up fat ass Tackle with the finesse of a water buffalo
Why you want to talk about my son like that mother****er? I'll be over to visit your ass.

Remember the weights are just numbers on a piece of paper. When they line up they don’t look to small.

Gee, could this be one of the reasons that the 2022 class commits is so small and missing on some top targets? Couldn’t be, has to be racial discrimination.
It plays a factor, but it's not the sole reason. I don't know what every team in a Power 5 conference looks like, but my guess is that we will see senior classes at Iowa continue to be small. The really good players end up going to the draft after their junior years so you end up with smaller senior classes. Between that and transferring of guys who don't end up getting lots of PT.

To the 2022 recruiting, it's a bunch of factors (my opinion only). To say the issues of last summer play no role is naive. Best way to remedy that is with success on the field and more time going by to show that whatever needed to change, did.

Honestly I kinda doubt it. Top recruits don't worry about who's already there. See Bama. It could be for a few but not a huge factor for most.

Iowa vs Bama = apples vs oranges.
I don't really want to play this back and forth but every team has good players and Iowa needs Rb's and Cb's who also passed on Iowa so your argument simply doesn't hold water. Like someone else said in another thread. Weak sauce. There are plenty of reasons why Iowa might be struggling this year on the trail. Since you mentioned the racial bias shitstorm, anyone who believes that this kind of negative publicity doesn't impact recruiting has their head in the sand.

LOL - you're on a roll Jethro. Lack of strength was strongly implied. Why else would you specifically make a point to single out Ince's "incredibly light" weight of 282 lbs.?

Again, why didn’t some decommit last year? Why aren’t current players leaving with ease of transfer and a free covid year? The ‘22 class is going to be small and looking at the depth chart they are a young team. People are assuming it because they don’t like BF and maybe even KF. Show evidence.

in my experience as an avid enjoyer of Hawkeye football under KF, with the exception of 2015, the memorable seasons have had a monster or two on each line. so let’s hope to see that 2015 like cohesion and teamwork again.

FYI those weights aren’t super accurate. Just thinking of Black alone, in Spring the coaches said he was close to 300.

The weights come from early June when players reported. Very possible some of them have added 5-10 pounds via summer workouts
Not sure of Ince’s weight last year but I don’t recall that many problems when he was playing

Yeah, Ince also was injured so he could have lost a little weight if he wasn't able to work out.

Do the linemen pass the eyeball test when on the field? They certainly did last fall. Me thinks the listed player weights for OL and DL are understated for whatever reason.

287 lbs is a bag of white castle and a box of twinkies away from 300 lbs
