Morgan on Friday.
Langenberg on Saturday.
Brecht on Sunday.

I presume that Heller's thinking is not only to see if it wakes up Brecht but that getting longer outings out of the starters on Friday and Saturday will create less stress on the bullpen.

Sucks, we are going to the game tonight and we were looking forward to seeing Brecht. But I understand the decision as he’s struggled with his control.

With Henderson out, I really think that this decision is largely driven by the hope that Morgan can provide a solid 5-6 innings tonight and Iowa doesn't have to go deep into the bullpen. Same for Langenberg on Saturday.

It will be quite interesting to see how it transpires. Suffice it to write, both Morgan and Langenberg have to know that they are being counted on to deliver.

Also . . .FWIW . . . Christopherson is a MSU transfer. Hoping he gets a chance to throw against his old team.

I really like Iowa's chances this weekend if the pitchers can avoid the "walk bug." They really need the kind of performances that we saw when the Cornhuskers came to town.

Interesting, baseball managers and teams are creatures of habit however sometimes it IS time to shake it up!

The Golden Goofs beat 1st place Maryland.

The April 30 game at Penn State getting canceled might end up costing us a share of the regular season B1G Championship.

Records now:

Maryland (33-18, 13-6)
Iowa,,,,,,,,,,(35-12, 11-7)

Morgan's line:
6 innings pitched
21 batters faced
96 pitches (51 strikes, 45 balls)

0 Hits
0 Runs
6 strike outs

4 walks
1 Hit Batter
0 Wild pitches

Saved our pen great work Hawks nice start to series!

Morgan switched to working strictly from the stretch in the 5th and 6th after allowing the lead-off hitter to get on base in innings 1-4. Solid results after the switch.

Lots of innings left in bullpen arms.

Iowa is just one game out of 1st place in the loss column. I sure would like that April 30 game at Penn State back (it was canceled because of weather). Just watch; we'll end up finishing a 1/2 game out from a share of the regular season B1G Championship. As @EvilMonkeyInTheCloset would say, BAU.

From @Alum-Ni 's other thread:

A. Then force Penn State to reschedule it.

B. I'd say the Sunday loss to Ohio State hurt more...........

Wilmes with a solo shot in B3
Dorighi follows with a solo shot in B3.

Iowa up 3-1 heading to T4.

Langenberg survived a slow start in T1 and trouble in T2. 1-2-3 in T3.

Langenberg drills first batter in T4. Grrrrr
EDIT: Now another HBP. Double Grrrr

Lightning delay … damn. At least 30 minute delay.

Langenberg gives a decent five innings. Based upon Heller’s pre-game interview, I’m expecting Savary to be “next man in.” Heller said that he really likes how Savary’s pitch repetoire matches up against MSU.

Sitting in car trying to figure out what the situation is? I’d appreciate an assist.

Here we go again...see Nevada football game from last fall. This will really throw off a pitching staff.

I don't know about that. Langenberg had, at most, one more inning in him. Savary will come into the game with a full warm-up. That doesn't mess with the anticipated schedule too much. I'd be far more concerned if Langenberg only threw two innings. That would seriously disrupt Heller and McGrath's game plan.

There’s no sound in BTN+ broadcast now. Heller and MSU coach were standing at home plate talking. MSU and Iowa’s players are running in OF - warming up.

Screen now says resumptiom at “about 1:45 pm”
