Crazy that Clown U could be playing for the Big 12 title.

ACC Championship in Charlotte, North Carolina

SMU vs. Miami or Clemson.

Miami is in if it beats Syracuse. Clemson is in if Miami loses.

Big Ten Championship in Indianapolis

Oregon vs. Ohio State, Penn State or Indiana.

Ohio State is in if it beats Michigan or if Penn State and Indiana lose this week. Penn State is in if it beats Maryland and Ohio State loses. Indiana is in if it beats Purdue and Ohio State and Penn State lose.

SEC Championship in Atlanta

Georgia vs. winner of Texas-Texas A&M game.

Mountain West Championship at Boise, Idaho

Boise State (10-1) vs. UNLV or Colorado State. If UNLV and CSU both win or lose their final regular-season games, the tie would be broken by either College Football Playoff rankings or results-based computer metrics.

UNLV (9-2) hosts Nevada (3-9)
Colorado St (7-4) hosts Utah St (4-7)

Big 12 Championship in Arlington, Texas

Arizona State vs. Iowa State if both win this week.

Kansas State (8-3) is at Clown U (9-2)
Arizona State (9-2) is at Arizona (4-7)

Multiple scenarios including BYU, Colorado and other teams exist otherwise.

A four-way tie at 7-2 between Arizona State, BYU, Colorado and Iowa State would result in #1 Arizona State vs #2 Iowa State.

Not *quite* true: there are a couple scenarios in which Iowa State wins this week but doesn't make the title game. The clearest example is if Arizona State, Colorado, Houston, and Texas Tech all win (plus one or both of Kansas and TCU win) - there would be a three-way tie for first and the championship game would be Arizona State vs Colorado.

Even with a once in a lifetime season Indiana probably won't be in the conference champonship??? Think about that.
Many times it is who you lose to and it used to be when. In the old days of pure rankings if a team lost early in the year that loss could be forgiven.

Now you have automatics for Conf winners and some get in on rankings.

In 2009 the hawks were off to that great 9-0 start and even if Stanzi didnt get hurt against jNW and Iowa beat Nwestern and went to 10-0, the hawks would have still had to beat Ohio St at Columbus to outright win the Big Ten, go 11-0 and go to a Natty Champ game.

Thanks for the breakdown. Iowa St has been barely sliding by a weakened but normally strong Utah and UCF and losing 2 games. Kansas ST is a pretty good to really good team but also a bit up and down schzoid so I have no idea how this game is going to go except to say that KSU could easily win this game going by latest scores. Both teams have about the same league scoring and defensive scoring allowed averages.

How would Penn St get in over Indiana if tOSU loses? What's the tie breaker? Score against tOSU? Strength of schedule?
They wouldn't. Indiana needs both OSU and PSU to lose (like his post said; did it get edited?). Indiana loses tiebreaker to PSU based on tiebreaker rule #4 (basically win % of uncommon B1G opponents).

Perfection has often been a requirement to make it to a CCG in an elite league. Indiana is 8-1 and there are 3 teams with equal or better records than them, all played more difficult schedules, and one of those three destroyed Indiana.

The reality is that their once in a lifetime season was largely propelled by a really easy schedule. Theyre good, but they’re not on the level of Ohio State and Oregon in terms of quality of season this year. They’ll still get in the playoffs, and that’s a great reward for their program. They’re being given a shot to compete for the national championship.

I am pretty sure Indiana plays Purdue in their annual state battle. IU should win that game no matter where it is played unless they have a huge letdown which I doubt their coaches will let happen. The coaches and players know a win has them ranked in the top 12.

So good for IU and I would love to see them win their first game.

Kansas State has historically been a huge thorn for Clowns.

unfortunately for them, they probably will play the 1st round game on the road

Well the top 4 teams sit out the first round and I see IU dropped to 10th in the rankings which does put them on the road. But IU has played some decent teams and blew some of them out so I think they have the ability to win that first round game and may be favored. IU totally self destructed against OSU by giving the Bucks to very short fields and that punt return.
