McCaffery has his call in show tonight. The call is absolutely free. Here is your chance to tell him how badly he mismanages his team and how to make immediate improvements so that a B1G title is in sight. Don't be shy. You obviously think he needs the benefit of your extensive coaching experience and acumen. Hoping to hear from you all.

I've never listened to a call in show for more than a few minutes.

Its usually just guys like you making worthless observations and kissing the coaches ass.

"I thought so and so played a real heck of game last night"

If people were to bring up the topic to Fran on why he plays his sons over Kris he would more than likely play them more because hes extremely stubborn and can't take any sort of criticism without throwing a fit.

So...nothing? All you can do is bitch?

SMH, BAU.

There are so many Fran apologists on this board it's not even funny. There's a stark difference between just outright blaming him for downfalls/shortcomings/blunders and bringing into question and analyzing strategic changes he could make, to strengthen the team. Just because we won, doesn’t waive the right to be critiqued or criticized for certain moves/strategies in game, nobody gets a pass. If Ayala makes the first FT, which he was a 74% shooter before this game started, with 5 seconds left, misses the second, they get a rebound and sink a 2 or 3 we are either 0-3 in the big ten or going into OT with no momentum at a deflated CHA. Just being real about it, I've seen us snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory 1 too many times, that I'm going to take Maryland's chances in that situation 7 times out of 10, to do just that. Thank god Ayala choked when he did, and Jordan made his FT's to seal it. I'm fairly certain the narrative would be different on the game from some of the fans supporting Fran's mid game management/minute distribution, had we dropped to 0-3 in the Big Ten.

I'm sure the call in show will let you ask Fran anything. I'm sure they don't screen questions at all.

That ignorant hot-headed loser wouldn’t listen to any criticism anybody could give him. Worst coach in the league now that Turgeon quit.

All I'm hearing are excuses.
You got an answer to a stupid suggestion.

Theres no way Fran would react any way but negatively to anyone questioning him especially about the PT of his sons on the radio.

He can't even handle serious questions from the media without losing his temper.

Its not a venue for a serious debate.

Hate to break it to you all, but his call in show was last night, he was headed to Jack's basketball game and was not at the Hyett, called into Dolphin and talked for about 10 minutes at the beginning and Sherman Dillard filled in for him the rest of the show. You didn't miss anything....
You can go on YouTube and catch the hour and a half along with Lisa Blunder's call in show preceding Fran's show.

Fran has his faults but you can easily see Iowa making 6 additional free throws late in that game(Ulis and Rebraca missed front ends and JBo and CMAC each missed one) which could have left Iowa with a comfortable 11 Pt win after trailing by 4 at halftime.
I like Iowa's odds of winning that game with their opportunities at the line more than MD.
Does Painter suck after Wiz came into Mackey and beat them after RU beat the Boilers? If Iowa has Keegan they probably beat the Boilers in Mackey as well.
Iowa lost 4 of their top 6 players off of last year's team but are on track to possibly make the tourney. after being picked 11th in the league in preseason.
If we do make the dance Fran has had a solid year.

Just checked Fran's Big Ten record, not counting his first two years (anyone who understands the poor hand he'd been dealt in terms of talent when he arrived would agree with dropping those first two years). 91-77. Hardly the worst coach in the league. Actually better than average.

Are you related to the guy or just family friend? Why so much of your self worth tied up into how Fran is perceived by fans? You never have anything factual to post. Fran screens calls, he is not going to take quesitons on what he does.

If maryland had just outscored Iowa they would have won and Iowa would be 0-3. Nice analysis.

Yeah…? My point is a W changes the narrative completely when it shouldn’t. We shouldn’t be glazing over deficiency in our program. “If my uncle had balls he’d be my aunt” yeah I know. Smdh.

Some people only see things with one eye open. Same thing people did last year, we had an atrocious defense, ranked is the 100’s, but people still thought we could just outshoot every team, until we got swept by a shit Indiana team, and scored less than 70 points. They lit us up from 3 and were the worst shooting team in the Big 10. We have some of the worst close out 3 D in the big 10, and it shows when teams consistently light us up from beyond the arc in conference play.z

Eventually problems will arise, the point of my comment is to bring awareness to them on the board so maybe the sky doesn’t fall when people get their expectations skyrocketed, even though we are skating by opponents, like we did Monday. I’m happy as hell we won, we needed it, like I said before my point was talking about issues in a victory isn’t wrong. Guarantee you Fran is doing just that with the team on game film every game win or lose. We do the same thing from a fan perspective in discussions on HR.

And anyone calling in would do what exactly? Frans going to do what he does, just like KF. As fans we can support the coaches and team, or not, but nothing we have to say is going to change anything. These guys are making millions coaching these teams, and as long as their winning and competitive their not going anywhere. As someone pointed out this is almost an entirely new team from last season. We've played one bad game, (ISU) one close loss to Illinois( with a hobbled Keegan), and one close loss to #2 Purdue (without Keegan). No one knew what this team would be , but I'd bet if we knew we'd be 11-3 right now most everyone would have been thrilled with that.
Its one thing for us to discuss our thoughts here, but calling into the show and thinking someone's going to set Fran or Kirk straight is like spitting into the wind.....

I agree, don’t think it’d do anything. I think you misunderstood what I was saying in my posts. Don’t think anyone should do that on a call in, at least I’m not. I respect Fran, enough not to be a Dick to him when he’s trying to do his job. I was saying if we want to have discussions on HR about strategy/lineups and what have you, that’s not the wrong spot to have it. I’m being critical of Fran on here because of things I think would result in improvements, not saying they’d work or I’m smarter than him, I have no consequences in my hopes/wishes, all they are, are opinions and he’s not exempt of constructive criticism on a message board for fans, even in victory IMO.

Coach's call in shows are worthless PR moves that pretend to offer "access" but provide nothing of the sort. Complete waste of time that I've never paid any attention to.

Fran's going to do whatever he wants and he doesn't have to, nor will he, explain his decisions coherently in any public forum. The nonsense that he threw out about why Connor played as much as he did is a good example.

Thanks for posting, Fran.

* Play Toussaint more. He's earned the minutes.
* Put your best defenders on Davison and run him ragged.
* Tell your guys that either they rebound and play defense or they spend the night with you on the pine.
* Get the ball to Keegan. I think he's pretty good.
* Run plays and set screens--even double and triple screens--so JBo can say one final goodbye to Wisconsin in appropriate style.
* But most of all, be sure to score at least one more point than Wisconsin. Do that and you have a great shot at the win.

I'll hang up and listen.

Chicken s—— on this board don’t have the balls to confront him Mano to Mano on his call in show!
Lol confronting somebody and telling them how to do their job doesn’t make you “ballsy,” it makes you a tool. If Fran ever wants to seek out my opinions or the opinions of any poster here, I’m pretty sure this board is free to view. In the meantime, folks here will continue to post their opinions on games, even if they include critiques of Fran’s rotations and aren’t all sunshine and roses. Why? Because that’s what this board is for. If you disagree with a critique, you are always free to post a counter argument
