Herkyfan how can this be?

After how the season and careers played out, if someone thinks Uthoff is better than Niang they are extremely biased or unintelligent

Let me first start off by saying that they are both good players. Are they "elite" players, far from it.

I think you also have to look who they had around them. Niang had more help, so he was able to be in more 1-1 situations, where Uthoff had Jok and that was it. So to even try to compare them is nonsense, because one had a pretty solid core of players around him and the other one only had 1 player. Plus they play in two different conferences. So comparing them is a non-issue.

I think they are both good players, but I doubt either of them ends up in the NBA next year. I am guessing they both have careers destined for Europe.

Weren't both All-Americans? What is your definition of elite?

Its easy - Niang's offense is really easy to see for the voters. His non-existent defense is hard for the voters because they aren't paying close attention.

Why? Because ISU beat 2 nobodies during their free ride to the Sweet 16 and then immediately lost to their first opponent with a pulse? I mean, that is an historically good year for ISU, but still, not that great, especially for a preseason top 5 team.

This had to be the most disappointing season for ISU fans maybe ever. Preseason top 5 to really a nothing finish. Getting blow out by Virginia with way more fans there was totally unacceptable & icing on the cake for the crappiest letdown season in school history!

Tell the Naismith folks how wrong they got it with the semifinalist list.

Maybe they will listen to isu grads this time.

Both great players, however; JU is a better pro prospect and will do better in the pro's and has a better chance at NBA IMO....comparable players and both very very good

Niang was a monster down the stretch while Uthoff disappeared. Like I said if you'd rather have Uthoff over Niang on your team you're crazy but I'm not going to say anything to change your mind

A nothing finish is better than anything Iowa has done since 1999. After Naz got hurt I said I would be happy making the Sweet 16

The dude will be hitting 3's in the NBA next year!!
Ohhhoho, you were being sarcastic. I got it. ;)

P.S. On the thread topic, Uthoff is better because he is from Iowa. That is the only logical answer and is the easiest way to troll ISU fans into a response no matter what. It's science.

Cyclone fan is hanging on for dear life this week. Anything to make himself feel better. Latching on to Oklahoma. Printing up sweet 16 t-shirts. Declaring Virginia is a good team. Much better than the usual officiating rants. Impressive.

I don't care how Oklahoma does and Virginia is a good team. Also I would never personally buy a Sweet 16 shirt myself I'm sure Iowa would do the same thing if they made it that far

Where is Niang projected to go in the draft? I'll hang up and wait for your response.

Fact of the matter is, he's overweight and couldn't guard a wet paper bag defensively, much less an NBA player. Why don't we go back to that night in Ames where Uthoff scored 30 in the first half on him and he threw his hands up in confusion, then you had to put Matt Thomas on him. The dude would foul out every night in the NBA if not for getting pulled because he's trying to guard an NBA 3 man with twice the athleticism.

He's an extremely crafty and skilled college player but he has no shot at NBA success while Uthoff still does. Like others have said, ISU had much better overall surrounding talent and if Niang was double-teamed every time he touched it like Uthoff was the last half of the season, then he wouldn't have the numbers he did.

Give me the better college player over the better NBA prospect every day of the week

No comment on anything discussed in this, but there is a potential issue.

Is the OP an ISU fan that is eternally excited for football season to start? It seems like he is probably a Cyclone fan, and his name suggests to me that he always wants football season to get here. If true, that's weird. If Jesus posted on this board, his equivalent name would be "isitcrucifixseasonyet?"

We are discussing who's been better this year if you saw the other thread. Most people agree Uthoff has the better NBA upside. However, not to say Georges couldn't find the right fit.

As for college ball though it's not even close.

So you are saying a nobody beat the Big 10's second best team? Gotcha. And ISU smoked that same team? Got it. Always good when you can finally admit your conference was crap. If you are saying ISU's year was good, but not great, and it's a better year than Iowa has had in two decades... how does that make you feel? Probably not, that, good. Hope you were able to sell your tickets to Des Moines.

Texas Ten underperforms for the 6th year in a row and isu grads simply can't grasp it. Will you tout your bogus SOS again next year? Of course you will it is what isu grads do, they cling to their myths.

How did your final four tickets sell? Did Brent who wears Blummers buy them back from you?

Selective time frame argument from an isu grad? Only when their little bro syndrome gets in the way.

More please.

Baylor and WVA stopped by to say hello. Of course the Texas Ten was awesome. Just ask isu grads they will tell you.

So is the Naismith Committee re-issuing their semifinalist list because isu grads are sure it was wrong?

Or maybe just maybe it is exactly what I said it was. They simply didn't want to reward a player for acting like a douche. isu grads really struggle in a world where others won't ignore what they so easily dismiss. Must have something to do with the isu culture.

More please.

My question is, "What sort of dirtbag comes to an Iowa Hawkeye site to try and diminish the season a Hawk player had when he 'ONLY' made Third Team All-American?"

Simple. isu grads with Little Bro Syndrome that is who.

Uthoff may have more NBA potential, but Niang was superior at the college level this year.
I don't see Uthoff making the NBA either, though. With all the contact that goes on with those guys, hard to see him thriving in that environment.

Niang is the better college player, Uthoff has a better chance to do something at the next level. Simple as that.
