Wow. Some media types have a LOT of explaining, backtracking and crow--or sh*t-- to start chowing down their gullets.
Dochterman, especially. He now looks like an absolute horse's ass for what he said on that pod with Leisti-Blow.
He never struck me as a douchebag teammate. Obviously his play hasn’t been there. It’s tough without knees.

In their defense, it was all based on Kirk saying Cade had been cleared to play, but now Cade says he hasn't been cleared to play. So obviously someone isn't telling the truth in the football facility.
Plus, maybe vision problems and the shaking of the head meant mental problems to them

Agreed. the whole 1st on the depth chart, cleared to play, no longer playing, Lainez back, Sullivan out for season but now potentially available in an emergency. All the cryptic stuff lined up like that. I'm sure we'll never know the real story.

Could be a simple as he was cleared but concussion symptoms came back in practice and back to concussion protocol he went. Head injuries are weird.

KF is from the Belicheck school of thought, give the media just enough information to get the PC over with and on to important things. The man is 67, he's not on social media and I doubt he gives two sh1ts what anyone says or speculates on the web. Good for him.

McNamara has been an often injured and poorly performing player since he got here. It was another miss in evaluation by KF and staff to bring him in that they further compounded by continuing to run him out there as qb1. I'm A-OK with him moving on and more than ready for the staff to finally move on from him. No ill will at all toward the guy.

Cade has made a lot of money for subpar performance. These so called haters want an Iowa QB who can actually throw 200 yards a game and run for 50.
He seems to be a good teammate and dedicated to Hawkeye football. I'm sure he is more disappointed with his play than anyone else. Except maybe some gamblers around town! LOL

Matt Weitzel, Associate AD for Strategic Communications, provides further information on Cade McNamara and Jermari Harris not playing at Maryland, and saying the hope is both play against Nebraska:
"Cade McNamara has not been cleared to play against Maryland. His status was a topic of discussion during Tuesday’s weekly news conference. In reviewing the transcript and the Q & A, Coach Ferentz misstated that Cade had been cleared to play, he had been cleared to practice.
Q. Cade being back at the top of the depth chart, has he been cleared, and if so --
KIRK FERENTZ: Yeah, I wrote that on Sunday. He practiced Sunday. Everything is cloudy right now. That's kind of our forecast. It clearly is cloudy right now. Everything is. We'll just take it day by day and see who can go.
Q. I wanted to get some clarity with Cade. You said he practiced Sunday. Did he have a setback or is he still in that process of coming back?
KIRK FERENTZ: Still processing back. He has been cleared to play, and whether or not he can play effectively or not, we'll see. We'll just see how the week goes. But we're prepared for anything, quite frankly.

At first I thought this said subparbowl, and I think that's fitting.

I didn't care that he was coming or think that it was a great get. But that's not the point. The comment wasn't about fan excitement. It was about a coaching staff evaluation miss.

Right? Clearly the fans are at least as responsible for evaluating potential transfers as the staff who are getting paid millions of dollars to do exactly that. And clearly the staff has done an excellent job with QB evaluations over the past 7 years or so given all the success that we've seen at that position since Stanley was recruited in 2016.
I think fans eventually realized at Michigan, CM was surrounded by way more talent than when he got to IC.
So his shortcomings were obvious sooner.
I don't believe anyone questions his effort, but he doesn't really have any strengths.
Regardless, the $$$ has been spent and it's history soon.
At Iowa it seems the swings like the one for CM never work out.
