I'm down about 7 or 8 lbs. I've probably exercised a little bit more (more frequent treadmill on an incline and playing more tennis) and have prepared more of my own food, so eating a little healthier. My overall health has probably improved during 2020. My health and overall financial health are probably the only bright spots this year. I'd certainly trade a little bit back to see some improvements in other areas.

Started the year at 218lbs (5’11) with a goal of being under 200. When this all started in mid March I was just under 210. I turned things up a notch exercise wise and went below 200 on April 9th for the first time in a decade.

I’ve come close but haven’t exceeded 200 again since then. Today I weighted in at 195. It would be a stretch but I would really like to get down to 185 but I can’t commit to pain it would take to get there. I’m still exercising hard but not restricting myself so I’m holding pretty steady and have been fine with that as long as I don’t push too close to 200 again.

Down 20 pounds since closures began. Started daily macro tracking, big game changer. Also, never took creatine until quarantine, that stuff works wonders.
How are you losing weight on creatine? The water retention alone should have you up pounds.

Up 1 to 5 pounds.

Prior to COVID I dropped 60 pounds from May of 2019 to December of 2019. Going from 250 to 190. I started dropping a few more pounds slowly after that hitting around 186 in mid February.

When this all happened and I was eating 2600 calories a day to maintain weight. Well all the staying home has likely met that my caloric needs are a bit lower than that. I'm eating about 2300 to 2400 per day and I've settled in at 191 or so.

I actually want to get down back down to 186 but since we're buying all of our food in pickup orders it's a little difficult because it used to be when I ran out of something that was crucial to my diet I would just stop by a grocery store on the way to or from work and pick it up. Doing that I was able to keep my calories down by eating specific low calorie foods for lunch. I used to have a salad with lite italian dressing, a ham sandwich with only lite mayo on it, mustard potato salad, and a bag of steamable mixed vegetables. The salad mix has been especially hard to keep on hand because it's not something I can buy a bunch of ahead of time in one pick up order otherwise it just goes bad before I can use it.

To be fair I'm not as motivated right now to get down to 186 from 191 as I was when I dropped 60 pounds off. Those 5 pounds were mostly intended to be a cushion and I am doing better than ever healthwise. I have to take blood tests every 6 months because of my epilepsy (to test if my medication dosage is correct. and because of possible side effects my doctor tends to do sort of a full panel. My doctor said pretty much everything improved after I lost the weight, blood sugar, cholesterol etc etc. Blood pressure is way down and I got off blood pressure medications in Nov 2019. Plus my resting heart rate is actually considered excellent for my age coming in slightly below 60 bpm.

I’m probably not much more than a buck 30 right now but it has nothing to do with COVID. I’ve battled eating disorders on and off for much of my adult life.

I stopped all alcohol in December, wasn't a heavy drinker, but had 2-4 beers every single day. Other than that, zero changes in diet or excercise and I'm down 30. I didn't realize how much it was affecting both my weight and overall health/energy. Now I just crush sparkling water like I get paid for it...party.

We're you in the group with Kluver?
No. Did my own thing. Mostly lifted and did a little cardio. Ate semi healthy. Weight kinda falls off me when I do that. 5 years ago I hit 310 and decided it was time to get serious. Ate healthier 4 days a week, worked out an hour a day for 5 days, and I lost 68 lbs in 60 days.

Feels like I have gained the C 19 but probably up around 5-7 pounds.

I’m on a slight daily caloric deficit as well. The creatine is helping build lean muscle and strength. Current goal is to shed body fat, then slow bulk.

My lot is .39 acres and I push it. Takes about an hour and a half to do everything. I could use a rider, but prefer to push mow.
I usually double cut mine to burn the strips in better and I am at about and hour and a half start to finish.

Which race? Marathon directors are scrapping races left and right. The marathon I was training for (Sioux Falls) was recently cancelled. Interestingly, they did not cancel the Half.... yet. Down to 167 from 184 since March, put in 16 hot miles this morning..

Weather has been brutal for the long runs. Initially I was going to run Chicago, but that was canceled. Twin Cities was another option, but that was canceled too. I have a good friend who’s trying to get me to do the Lakefront Marathon in Milwaukee. That may be the only option.

For all the miles I’ve been logging, those dropped off the last week as our daughter was born in Tuesday night. Didn’t run again til yesterday. But there’s still plenty of time to get it going.

Interesting that Sioux Falls got canceled. Wouldn’t think there would be a ton of people in crowds nor being a huge participant draw. I do believe that Fargo Marathon is still going forward.

First, congrats on the new addition to your family! Wishing you and your family good health.

Sioux Falls is a smaller field …. somewhere round 200 for 26.2 around 1000 for the Half. I've run both in years past, crowds are sparse. They capped the 2020 Half field at 550 with staggered starts. I'm looking around also and Fargo is an attractive option but that race has the same sponsor (Sanford Health). Not confident it will go this year.

It kind of sucks..... it feels like any urban race scheduled after Labor Day could be in jeopardy which makes it really tough to set or keep a training schedule. I recently found an obscure event in my area - 6hr/12hr/24hr "races" over a loop located on a rural organic vegetable farm. It may have to serve as a fallback (6hr) race this Fall. Could be interesting, their site mentions barbyard animals as spectators. I guess I'll need to run trails instead of streets for the next few weeks, just in case, in order to prepare.

Good luck wherever you end up going.

Thank you very much! Been an incredible experience so far, and that includes a complete lack of sleep. Comes with the territory.

200 people for the full marathon is a small field. But I think so many races are worrying about liability and now with the COVID numbers spiking it is more than reasonable to be canceling races like they are. As for that local race you found, that does sound like an interesting race. It could be a good fallback so your training won’t totally go to waste. Barnyard animals for spectators would be a new one for sure.

With Fargo, if they are the same sponsor there’s a high probability it will get canceled as well. I’ve never run that one but friends have. It’s two 13.1 mile loops. Weather can be very hot for that race as well.

Hope you’re able to find a race that works for you.
