How big of a project IS Josh O?

Meh, please. Josh is not ready for more than 5 mins a game at this point. He clearly has some ability and agility for his size but he makes me think much more of a guy who is on the team just to be around his buddies and have fun and not be too serious about success or busting his tail to achieve.
If you look at the only time Ogundele played extended, 16m at Purdue, without Keegan, IOWA was in 1 possession game with ~ 1 minute to go.

16 minutes, 3-4 FGA, 1-3 FT, 5 rebounds versus 2 elite bigs, and forced both into numerous missed shots and TO. if you don’t believe me, rewatch the game.

as a summary, in extended minutes Ogundele

A. produced a very respectable line.
B. Team played very well, over achieved in the road vs #2 team in nation.
C. With out Keegan

this would seem to say that in extended minutes, vs excellent competition, in hostile road environment, Ogundele played well.

Fran has not given Ogundele extended minutes since then…

I don’t know where the attacks in his work ethic come from, source? Link? or is it just an opinion?

Maybe its Fran's master plan to save him for the BTT to catch everyone by surprise! Or more realistically he is not playing more because of either an undisclosed injury or attitutde/work ethic issues.

there is no amount of out of shape that says he can't play 4-5 minutes. If he does and sucks, so be it. There is nothing to show he would be a detriment. Maybe it would be a motivator.

Not true. He's a redshirt freshman. He is just starting to grasp the game. Bigs take longer, especially those who come from overseas.

Look at Gabe Olaseni - people were writing him off until his Junior year. He played fewer minutes than Andrew Brommer and Devon Archie as a freshman and, as a sophomore, played fewer minutes than all other scholarship players who weren't redshirting. People were questioning why he even played. He was often referred to as a waste of a scholarship and an example of poor player development. LOL! The light came on in his junior year. He went on to become the B1G 6th man of the year as a senior.

Not saying that Josh will follow this path but he certainly deserves more time.
I don't remember it as being this way at all. Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought most fans were excited about Gabe's future and, in fact, I once asked McCaffery if he would consider redshirting Gabe his sophomore year so he could retain him another year as a more developed player.

People talked about wasting him AFTER his junior year. But his minutes were low and his productivity his 1st 2 years was even lower. I think you have a memory of convenience. 🙂

maybe it’s the same reason why Keegan didn’t start last year?
or same reason that Kris never played last year?

= coaching blunders?

I bet they're all breathing a sigh of relief, Josh is a big boy, but to get the max out of Josh, Fran and his staff are going to have to work miracles of biblical proportions.
Don't get me wrong. I sure don't think Fran will run him off. I think Fran will be honest with him as far as expected playing time and Josh may decide to stay around and keep working.

Was this the plan? Some PT when he is a junior and a contributor as a senior?
Besides being a big guy who played basketball, was this a shot in the dark schollie offer?

Sometimes there are swings and misses. Not saying this is the case with Josh, but at this point I would settle for a single.

Well he can't play more than 5 to 8 minutes a game without being completely gassed
