Most remaining games against quad 1 opponents, so lots of good resume opportunities. League championship is a long(er) shot after MD loss.

There are 10 more games, so 10-6 isn't an end point from 6-4.

Illinois game is huge. Win that, and there is a very decent chance of winning the home schedule, which gets you to a minimum of 11-9. Do that, and get a road win or two gets you in the ballpark for the double bye.

February is a tough month, and Fran's teams have played some great ball in February and some not so great ball in February. With that in mind, I will try to give the schedule a realistic, if not pessimistic, view.

I see at Indiana, at Michigan State, and at Illinois as road games that will be really really tough to win. Iowa probably will not be favored in these games. Realistic shot of going 0-3 in these games.

At Purdue, and at Minnesota will be tough as well. Even though the teams aren't great, we never play well at those two arenas. I can see Iowa splitting these two games 1-1.

Home vs. Illinois, Nebby, OSU, PSU, and Purdue are all winnable games. Illinois, OSU, and PSU will be a fight so lets just say we lose one of these games. 5-1. (at worst 2-3, but cmon I'm not THAT big of a pessimist).

That will finish with 6-5. 12-9 in conference and 21-11 overall. A classic Fran record, probably 6/7 seed in the tourney, and dramatically exceeding any expectations I had at the beginning of the season.

IF, however, we can protect home court and rip off one of those tough road games, keep the losses in single digits, we can be looking at 5ish seed. I hope this team has the guts (and the legs) to finish strong.

They will. Would’ve been interesting last night if Garza wasn’t in foul trouble.
Refs were not in our favor last night, but that is part of the home advantage, the crowd can influence the refs. Plus, yeah, the early foul trouble killed us, allowed them to come out on our three point shooters.

That said, Maryland played really good ball.

Long shot, but definitely not out of touch for league championship.
Iowa plays 4 games against the top 6 teams right now. 2 away 2 home
Illinois plays 6 games against the top 6, 3 home and 3 away
MSU plays 6, 3 home 3 away
MD plays 5, 2 home 3 away
Rutgers plays 4, 2 home and 2 away
PSU plays 5, 3 home and 2 away

Lots of games left and we are only 2 out. Beat Illinois and hope MSU loses at Wisky tonight and we are only one game out.

Without King and Davison Wisconsin will get dismantled by Michigan State,.. said dismantling will occur on Saturday...

I'll say .500 the rest of the way to finish 11-9 in the league

If that holds, I'm hoping that more of those losses come in the next couple of weeks and they go on a mini run at the end of the season.

It would be a nice change of pace to see them perform well in the B1G tourney.

Ten Wins in the league is key. If your .500 in this league you’re in the tournament. That’s better than most thought before the first game. We have a decent chance to exceed that so barring a major injury or total collapse I like our tournament chances.
