How do you disconnect emotionally from this whole thing?

I was in morning until the committee voted us 5 and invited us to the ROSE BOWL. Even the eventual National Champ (Unless its Clemson which I doubt) will have a loss. At least our one loss is to a Playoff team. If we go 13-1 and beat Stanford in the ROSE we will be #3 or #4 in the final rankings pretty outstanding!!!

That's like winning lotto and being upset you won $2 million and not $3 million. Life is great and so is being a Hawkeye today!

Agreed. We all were pretty bummed right after, but damn that was an electric atmosphere and it was a 60 minute slug fest. I was so glad that the teams played hard and clean football. There was no issues at all with officiating or the opponents fans. It was just a great overall experience and I would go back to Indy tomorrow if there was a game. It was so much fun and sucks to lose, but damn we are headed to the ROSE BOWL!!! I was in the 1st grade the last time the hawks went to the Rose Bowl. The Graddaddy of them all!!

Anybody with good ideas, I'm all ears. I hate the fact that the outcome of a game played by 18-22 year olds ruins my day. Logically, I should just be able to say, "That sucked" and move on with the rest of my day. How do you not get so emotionally invested?

Tequila.

Just remember it is just a game.Sure, you might say the Sailor is full of crap and I would agree.

But life does go on.To live life wishing and hoping your team wins or loses a game really doesn't mean crap.I always want the Hawks to win.
At the end of the day and tomorrow morning, you and I will stumble out of bed and go to work and or school.
A game score should never ever ruin your day ever.
cheers!

Think of how it is for the players. However emotionally invested we feel we are ... the players are 1000-fold more invested.

As a fan I deal with the disappointment simply by asking whether I'm proud of the effort that the players and the coaches put forth - were they clearly invested and did they put it all out there? After that ... win or lose ... at the end of the day, that's all you can ask of the guys.

The disappointment will remain ... but it's a good reminder of the Hawkeye pride I feel as well by thinking of all that they've accomplished through the season.

Everyone now thinks Iowa's good. Rose bowl is basically a playoff type game. Sparty could win National championship. Basketball teams lookin alright. Next year they will be a top 5 team.
