How do you feel about this?

Maybe one day the police will be forcing people to open their phones so they can see if you’ve ever said anything negative about our government. According to whoever is in charge at the time.

Sure, but get a search warrant. The OP post is about the authorities being able to force you to allow them to search your phone on demand. For whatever they want, in the heat of the moment. That shouldn’t be happening.
I know, that's why I said you won't see this in Iowa.

Noah Shannon would like to have a talk with you about your belief that “we are serving and protecting the innocent, not the criminal.” Your belief that you have authority over citizens is backwards…you have been granted authority by the citizens. We SHOULD have a reasonable expectation that our rights aren’t violated by our civil servants, but all to often that isn’t the case.
Did he not break the law? Sounds like the DCI did as well, but this is new technology that was used that to my knowledge has never been used before and probably won't in the future. Not the same as a typical search warrant.

Noah Shannon was of legal age to gamble and did NOT break any law. Some of the other underage athletes did. He did violate an NCAA rule. But the state had no right to forward his info to the university compliance staff. I hope he and the other athletes clean out the state for the violation of their civil rights.

In Iowa we can't force anyone to give us their code/finger/face The only thing we tell them is that they will get their phone back much quicker if they provide their code. If we have to crack it, they will be without their phone for a while.

What do you do when they have an iphone?

Glad you, as a police officer, are willing to condone the illegal search of private information. Noah Shannon broke ZERO laws, yet was punished due to the illegal tactics of an over zealous DCI agent. I know, I know…it’s only one time. It’s a new technology, so we should be forgiving that the DCI agent used it in an inappropriate manner. Bull crap! You MUST be held to a higher standard, and often times cops fail in this regard.

The expectation to be secure in your persons, houses, papers, and effects MUST be protected, and the court has failed to do it in this instance.

If they don't give us their code? We turn it on airplane mode and immediately put it on a charger so the battery doesn't go dead. If the battery is dead it's much harder to crack it. We then go through the process of software that will crack the code for us.

Have you cracked any where the user had a longer alphanumeric code? i.e. not 6 digit

Man, you just don't get it do you? We don't do search warrants on people that don't break the law. So someone with kid porn on their phone we should serve and protect by not gathering evidence to convict said kid porn guy? What about someone that was texting and caused an accident that killed someone? We shouldn't do a search warrant to gather the evidence to convict the person that killed someone? What you fail to understand is that by doing our job we are serving and protecting the innocent, not the criminal. People like you are part of the problem with society. You're just set in your ways and make general statements about shit you have no idea about.
Breanna Taylor says hold my beer. If she were still alive, I mean.

"The Justice Department announced today that former Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) Detective Kelly Goodlett, 35, pleaded guilty in federal court to conspiring to commit two federal crimes. Goodlett admitted that she conspired with another former LMPD detective, both to falsify an affidavit to obtain a warrant to search Breonna Taylor’s home without probable cause, which resulted in Taylor’s death, and to cover up the false warrant by lying to criminal investigators after Taylor was killed."

I never said this. I've mentioned many times it's getting worse and worse. There's definitely shitty cops
You seem pretty biased and ultra RW which is anti American from the reactions and things you've said on here. Concerning. Reynolds is the worst Governor in state history I bet you're a big fan.

Those are some big assumptions there. I laugh at some of your whacky comments and opinions, but that doesn't mean I'm in favor of whatever you're talking about. I'm independent. I vote for whoever I feel supports as many of my beliefs and opinions as possible. I'm not sure Reynolds is the worst, but I agree she is up there. I have never voted for her.
