How do you react when you see someone in public you haven't seen in a few years like a former co-worker or neighbor?

During my free time, I usually wear a hat and sunglasses when I'm out and about. People don't usually recognize me.

Today, I was at 711 and looked to my left and a former co-worker was standing right behind me. I was wearing a winter wool hat so he didn't recognize me. The last time I saw him was in 2011 probably. He was a family friend and was OK.

I made my purchase and left without talking to him.

If I had a do-over, I would probably have taken my hat off and talked to him. It wouldn't have been too awkward.

I moved back to my home town after being away for well over 30 years, I have run into quite a few old friends etc. Most of them have been better at recognizing me then me them. It’s usually a hey what the hell have you been up to.

Act real awkward. I wait to see if they recognize me, if not I pretend I don’t recognize them. I’ll dive down a different aisle, I really shouldn’t be allowed out of my house.

Yeah for the most part. Usually extra weight less hair for the guys and just normal aging for ladies.
