How Gangster is Scottie Scheffler(I know it is unrelated, but too wild to ignore)?

He runs over a police officer(not really, but he is being charged like he did) about 3 hours before his tee time, gets yanked out of his car and arrested right in front of the course entrance, taken to the station and booked, released about an hour and a half before his tee time, gets to the course about an hour before, tees off on time and birdies his first hole(10th as we started on the back 9).

Even Tiger couldn't pull that off! Crazy....

To be fair to Tiger, Tiger would have spent the previous night with a stacked Blonde (that wasn’t his wife) before pulling a “Scottie” and eagle the first hole. Early 2000’s Tiger was on a whole other level.

Edit to add: After winning the event by 10+ strokes would have invited the arresting officer to the after party where Tiger would have taken home another stacked blonde, that also wasn’t his wife.

To be fair, the field was nothing remotely like it is now. Now, Tiger is a big reason for that change, but "back then" everyone Tiger played against folded like a cheap suit when they were in his group on Sunday. Now, these guys are shot tracker trained, knowing exact spin rates per club, per ball and have "life coaches". The game has evolved so much that damn near everyone hits the ball as well or even better than Tiger ever did and they aren't scared of anything. It is now a matter of who has the hottest putter.

As far as "stacked blonde" goes did you see the women Tiger was cheating on his wife with? On a scale of 1-10 some of them were in the negative range. Compared to his wife, if you added them together I don't think you could get to her number. But, I would agree that made him much more gangster overall than Scottie. But, the fact that Scottie has always been the epitome of a "golfer" with a nearly impeccable image, made it nearly beyond belief that everything happened this morning...

Tiger with a body broken in half and at damn near 50 years old is shooting better than guys like Dustin Johnson at majors. Miss me with the he wouldn’t be as dominant bs.

Dustin Johnson went to the LIV for a reason. Feel free to look at the shot tracker stats for each guy and the scoring average. It is inarguable that the field is night and day different than what it was. Now, I am not saying that Tiger wouldn't have won a lot. Winners, win. I am simply saying that the game has evolved an incredible amount and the talent level is drastically different. Even the physical fitness has changed in a huge way.

Even then, I still gave Tiger credit for that change. His popularity changed golf. He is a huge reason the prize pool increased tenfold along with viewership. He is also the reason these kids all have swing coaches at 10 years old and are machines on the course. Still, the talent level and confidence these guys have hitting a cut 3 would around a tree over water carrying it 275 yards in the air is simply something not contemplated by nearly anyone when Tiger was at the height of his game...

I am pretty sure cooler heads will prevail. He probably ends up with a ticket or 2, but I simply can't imagine most of this doesn't get plead down quite a bit, with some of it going completely away...unless some new video surfaces showing him willfully doing more than what has been said so far...

well yeah, he's rich and famous. most of the people this happens to aren't that lucky.

World No. 1 golfer Scottie Schefflerwas arrested and charged with a felony and other counts Friday morning outside the PGA Championship in Louisville, Kentucky, after allegedly injuring a police officer while trying to drive past the scene of a fatal crash.

Scheffler was charged with felony second-degree assault on a police officer, along with lesser charges of third-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving and disregarding signals from officers directing traffic, according to Jefferson County court records.

Sounds like an entitled f*cking *sshole to me. Someone’s dead, but the rules don’t apply to him cause he’s good at golf.

Guys today would fold to Tiger just like back then. He was THAT good. I actually find creativity greater 20 years than today. Not as many guys shape the ball to fit a shot. Now they all just seem to overpower the course.

Then you guys obviously haven't followed this very closely. He basically did the same thing that all the other golfers before him did to get into the facility. You have to understand it was still pitch black out and pouring rain. Although normal traffic was blocked off it was still the only way the golfers could get in and they were still teeing off early. They absolutely were being directed around on the median to get there. Alot of people, mainly the actual course security, were wearing the orange safety suits that kind of doubled as rain gear and guiding the golfers in. He went the same way as everyone before him and, for whatever reason, this particular officer didn't want him to do it. Even when he was confronted, he didn't realize it was an actual police officer and that is why it took 10 or so yards to stop again, which is literally nothing driving a vehicle and then was seen apologizing saying he didn't realize he was a police officer.

Considering Scheffler's reputation, he is about as far from being an "entitled f***ing a-hole" as it gets...

No doubt the game has gotten better since then. Such is the way in sports.

Also, did you see the list of names Tiger had that leaked from his “sex rehab”. If memory serves it was over 20. Were any better than his wife? For me, no they weren’t. But they say variety is the spice of life and Tiger took that crap to heart.

Sorry, man, but I strongly disagree. These guys can shape the ball like never before. Go to a tournament and actually watch these guys practice on a range. They turn the ball every which way with every club. They just are now smart and trained enough to always go with the best percentages on certain shots. What gives them the best chance to get the best score on each hole. Which also segues into the head game. These guys are so much stronger mentally it is crazy. Between swing coaches, life coaches and mental coaches at an early age they are now desensitized to the atmosphere that playing with Tiger created. None of the guys that played back then were able to handle galleries that size because they had never seen them before. Now, it is second nature to them...

You couldn't be more wrong in one post, but rather than waste my time, I'll just agree with you and call it a day. I've been going to golf tournaments for many years. Womans tour. Mens tour. Senior tour. Majors and non-majors.

And so do I. Pretty solid low handicapper and I love watching what they do and gobble up youtube content as much as possible. If you don't think these guys shape the ball better than ever before, you simply are delusional. Although equipment has evolved as well, there are reasons why they changed the grooves allowed on wedges and are now going to nerf the ball.

Are you trying to tell me the guys before Tiger changed the game were stronger mentally and physically? They were able to handle the pressure of 200k galleries? LMFAO. The Waste Management would have folded those guys in half...

Wait, I thought you were blowing him cause he was a “gangster”. Now he’s the victim? Which is it?

Dude don’t get him started on a half page rant of what he meant and how both his answers are right and everyone else is wrong……..
Awe, it makes me feel so special knowing I mean so much to you…

It's all good. We all have a little "SPOONER" in us from time to time(no pun intended)....

It’s never unnecessary when it’s me.

Also, of course the Tiger of 20 years ago played a different game. Babe Ruth wouldn’t be able to hit in rookie ball these days. Humans and sports evolve. Not a new thing.

In most sports, when comparing the top talent of past eras, I would agree. But, that wasn’t what I was saying about Tiger. In fact, I would say his game would absolutely translate to today. I absolutely do think he would play damn near as well.

Now, what I was saying is THE FIELD of today is where the change is massive. Because of Tiger the game and, more importantly, the technology around it, has evolved considerably. Not only do they practice with devices that measure and immediately relay every possible facet of their swing, but they have every coach possible to get them as comfortable as possible in any situation you could think of.

Guys used to fold and shoot 80 something on Sunday in the final group with Tiger. Much of that was their complete inability to deal with the huge galleries and intermittent noise that came with it. It is well documented with interviews everywhere. Hell, it got Sergio so bad it set his career back several years.

That is where the key difference is. Today’s golfers are completely desensitized to one of the biggest assets Tiger had. Even he admitted to doing certain things at certain times to get the gallery to react and mess with his opponents. The Waste Management is a perfect example of this. For as raucous as many of Tiger’s galleries were, they pale in comparison to how nuts that venue really is…
