How Good Is Nebraska?

I've not had much of a chance to watch them play. Outside of hearing Armstrong turns it over a lot, I don't know much about them. Can someone fill me in on what they are good at? Where they struggle?

Thanks!

BYU, Miami, Wisconsin losses are just bad luck

NW loss was a weird game

Illinois - Inexcusable, terrible clock management

Purdue - I think this game occurred in an alternate dimension. Probably the worst team Nebraska has lost too, maybe ever.

Armstrong was out for that Purdue game. Backup threw like 4 INT's.

Miami dominated that game. Nebraska got back into it because of a complete lack of discipline on the part of the Miami players. Not shocking given their team and coach (who was fired a couple of weeks later). But they were extremely lucky to even have a chance to win that game. They were completely outplayed. BYU and Wisconsin were tough losses where the ball just didn't bounce their way.

Nebraska is a decent team. They've got some good athletes. Armstrong is a gamer who at times makes bad decisions. Iowa is going to have to play very well to win in Lincoln.

He also threw for 400 yards and a few td's....
Which makes you wonder why TA is starting at all. If the backup comes in and does that in his first game, what could he have done with a full season? Stupid, stupid Fuskers. They want Tommy A to be like that other Tommy.

Plus the BYU game had BYU's QB's limping in and out of the game.

I'm nervous as heck about this game, and Nebraska is decent, but you can't chalk up all those losses to bad luck. NU gave up two game winning drives to Wisconsin, with the Badgers missing the first FG and making the second. Good teams don't do that.

Remember a few years ago when we were saying our 5 losses were by a combined 12 points? A few different bounces and we are a top 15 team. That is them now....

My take is they have good DTs, average DE and LB and secondary has been suspect all year.

On offense they can rack up yards and points. Decent run game but usually drives have been led by Armstrong's ability to pass. This is also where they have faltered at times because Armstrong has made mistakes that have killed drives.

They have athletes there is no doubt about it, but this is a team sport and I think that has been their issue throughout the year is sustaining a team effort for 4 quarters. They have had some really good moments this year and look very good at times. But mistakes have reared their ugly head.

Iowa needs to stick to their game plan and play mistake free.

Well yeah, obviously Nebraska's crap secondary played a part in it. The secondary was/is pretty leaky.

Nebraska -10 in turnover margin
Iowa +11 in turnover margin

Nebraska 5-6
Iowa 11-0

Iowa 34
Neb 24

Good enough to beat Michigan St.
Bad enough to lose to Purdue.
We'll see which team shows up on Friday!

Iowa is getting Nebraska at the wrong time. Nebraska has gone through ups and downs with totally new schemes a cross the board and have had injury issues throughout the season and the past game winning streak our talented players have healed up. While the subs gained considerable experience to add much needed depth. Everything is starting to click defensively and offensively and you can throw the stats out the window as Nebraska will playa hearts out to get to a bowl game on senior day in Lincoln. It'll be a great game and Lincoln will be rocking like we have never seen before.
NU 38 Iowa 34

Nebraska pass offense is hard to stop as we have 6 wr's that can ball out. We stuffed mich st run and we have stuffed the run all year which has caused opponents to attack us through the air which our secondary has shored up of late as a secondary coach is Dallas Cowboys former offensive coordinator

6??? Moore and Westerkamp are decent, and your TE is good. Pearson El is still out right? I count 2 or 3 which is fewer than Iowa.

Iowa will get a if taste of humble pie as you guys can only dream of sniffing national championship. Beathard has yet to experience the hostile environment that he will experience in Lincoln

We have T. Smith, J. Smith, Vandeberg, Kittle, Krieger-Coble, and Hillyer flashes here and there. Not to mention that Duzey is still around. Plus we have Canzeri, Daniels, Wadley, and Mitchell at RB. Let's not even forget about the two monsters blocking for them in FB's Plewa and Cox. Then on top of that we hae a few mistakes made, savvy, swaggered, strong armed, quit footed, commanding leader as a QB. THEN,.....we have that backed by a talented and getting better by the day offensive line.

We're sniffing it right now you dummy. You're sniffing 5-7 at the present moment you dirty mother fusker. Beathard experienced it once before and ran for a TD the last time he was there by the way. Dirty, dirty, dirty Fusker.

Camp Randle disagrees with you. That nasty crowd didn't have much affect 2 years ago.

This is the part that scares me. They have had some bad games and they have had some good games. This team is very jekyl & hyde type team. I hope we get the team that played Illinois/Purdue and not the team that played MSU.

I think its a tight ballgame and if Iowa doesn't play up to par, they could get beat. THE SI cover is out, so let the curse begin.

Beathard played a good chunck of the game 2 years ago in Lincoln when Rudock got injured. He scored on a QB bootleg late in the game to seal the victory. I think he'll be just fine.

I want for the Huskers to bring their A game, that way when Iowa wins they don't have to hear excuses.

Uhhhhh, Beathard played and scored a TD in Lincoln in 2k13.......How about you do some fact checking before you come here and throw up all over yourself.......

Also, I think Iowa is already a humble team.......Kirk is a humble coach and does a pretty good job of keeping his players that way........

Should be a good game.......two pretty talented teams........Memorial a challenging place to play for sure.......

I don't think we want any part of the Husker's A game HeptimusC.

Their offense is one of the tops in the B1G despite all their QB's turnovers, and it seems like their defense has improved enough lately that we might struggle. Let's face it, we aren't very good throwing the ball and their run D is tough.

Scoring on a late game bootleg doesn't par in comparison to preparing for a team knowing you will be every down starter. Just another dillusional. Hawkeye fan

Nebraska has started 45 different players this season. They had players suspended early in the season, and have had a bunch of injuries keeping certain players out of 3 or 4 or 5 games during the season. October was a nightmare for them.

They've been completely healthy since the Michigan State game and have had the same 22 start the last 2 weeks forthe 1st time all season. The following is a list of guys who didn't player or played less than 5 snaps vs. Purdue, but were healthy for Michigan State:

- QB Tommy Armstrong, JR
- RB Terrell Newby
- WR Alonzo Moore
- RG Zack Sterup
- RT- Nick Gates
- LB Mike Rose
- CB - John Rose
- S- Byerson Cockerell
- LB - Chris Weber
- DE- Freedom Alikomodaum
- DT- Kevin Maurice
- DT- Kevin Williams

They basically played the whole Purdue game with a rotation of 8 guys in their front 7. The following week, they played with 8 guys rotating on the Dline for the frist time all season.

These starters, or regular players, have missed games this season:

QB Tommy Armstrong, JR - 1 game - Purdue
RB- Terrell Newby - 3 games
WR- Alonzo Moore - 2 games and 2nd half of NW
RG- Zack Sterup - 8 games
RT- Nick Gates - 3 games
TE- Cethan Carter - suspended for 2 games to begin season.
TE- David Sutton - Carter's replacement missed 9 games.
DE- Freedom Akimnodalum- leading sack guy missed all of October
DT- Kevin Maurice- 5 games
DT- Vince Valentine - 3 games
DT- Kevin Williams - 6 games
DE- Jack Gangwish - 4 games
LB-Josh Banderas - 4 games
LB- Chris Weber - 4 games
LB - Marcus Newby - first 2 games -
LB- Mike Rose-Ivey- 8 games
CB- John Rose - 3 games
S- Byerson Cockrell - 1 game

WR- DPE - 9 games

The only player who isn't now healthy is DPE.

The only Nebraska defensive players who have started every game are:

DT- Maliek Collins
LB- true freshmen Dedrick Young
S- Nate Gerry

Miami and Wisconsin were not bad luck.

Miami dominated Nebraska the entire game. Miami was up 33-10 in the fourth quarter and took the foot off the gas pedal.

Wisconsin dominated this game statistically though the score didn't reflect it. Wisconsin was flat out the better team in that game. Nebraska sustained one long drive in that game and it was on their first touchdown.

Nebraska's defense is soft and Iowa will be able to move the ball on Nebraska with relative ease. Iowa's defense will be the best defense Nebraska has played all year. Iowa just doesn't give up big plays.

No, we do, we want their A+ game as a matter of fact. Improved because of one game against Rutgers? Cook threw all over them, and MSU does not have the running game Iowa has. I like the Heptimus C though, that's clever.

Peek-a-boo, I see you.

Looks like we've found the Kilroy of Nebraska. Keep in mind, that this is sign that your team has been able to come together. Healthy now, needs to be healthy all season to really see that kind of coming together as a team.

Miami was way too fast for Nebraska, but we aren't in that league at all athlete-wise.

I watched the Corns play Wisky at my cousins and you couldn't be more wrong about that one. Nebraska just couldn't ever get out of their own way.

I hate to say it, but I think Nebraska is a really bad matchup for us. Let's face it...we all know we aren't as good as our record.
