How Good Is Nebraska?

Yeah, it's crazy how just like in baseball, you want your team to play football like every other day if you can.
It's never good to rest up, heal up, or have extra time to gameplan.
I mean, sure we won after our bye-week and Reily has a really good track record with extra time to plan, but coming off a short week we will be healthy and as prepared as can be!
Nebraska
BYU game - should never have lost (hail mary)
Illinois- passed on 3rd down when a run play wins the game. mental mistake should have never lost.
Purdue- so many injuries that game.. Armstrong didn't play. If healthy Neb wins easy.
Wisconsin could have very easily been a win also.
Craziest season I have ever seen. Really I look at Neb as a 8-3, 9-2 team. The record of 5-6 doesn't accurately reflect this team at all, especially not now. There were a lot of injuries throughout the season and this will be the healthiest the team has been all year. The coaches/players have also had time to gel together which is huge.
Iowa will get Nebraksa's A+ team. The crowd will be juiced as there has been a lot of frustration this year. If Iowa comes in and takes the victory they will have earned it no doubt.
The MSU game was a giant turning point as a team and as a fanbase. This is a team that will be at their peak

It's obvious that you don't even know what you saw when you watched the game. And you call yourself a Nebraska fan?
IMO The point spread is not wrong for this game. It's in Lincoln which is probably worth 4 points. Ne is finally healthy. Hawks have not been showing ability to protect our QB, and Hawk Defense is not getting any pressure on opposing QBs. Short week v bye etc. Expect Nebby to be totally juiced. Iowa will have to play a very solid game to win, unless the Bad Tommy Armstrong shows up. Getting down early and playing from behind could spell disaster. Need to keep Nebby's lunatic crowd out of the game. Go Hawks, Baby.
I thought only Nebraska fans smoked crack, but clearly we've got a Hawk on the rock here.
Go watch the game and tell me I'm wrong. I could give two shits because we already beat the vadgers and we'll probably get Nebraska too because this game is too big for them.
However, I just hope they don't make those plays on O against us by luck or something because they shut down Wisconsin running it until they were gassed in the 4th due to being on the field forever.
Or you know, that whole beating an undefeated Michigan State team the week before that. I think we have more confidence because of that win, not the domination of Rutgers. We're finally healthy and we're playing with house money so you should be worried about Friday.
JMO it depends on your coach. It is very situational to keep a team game ready. Just an FYI below from another poster.
Riley's teams (since 2003) are 14-6 coming off a bye week. Wins include @ #12 Oregon in 2007. #1 USC in 2008 (Thursday night game following bye). @ #19 UCLA in 2012.

I don't like to admit it, but you are right. We haven't even come close to playing a team like MSU and we've struggled quite a bit with inferior teams. Nebraska's best win is miles better than ours and every game but Miami it seems like they should have won.
I guess I just feel like maybe we are a paper-bird due to our schedule and this Nebraska team is leaps and bounds better than their record would indicate.
Hope I'm wrong, but worst case scenario is we get embarrassed on national TV but, hey, I still get to live in Iowa! Ha. Not even funny, but I just love it here.
There are no hypotheticals. Nebraska is a 5-6 team and Iowa is 11-0. That is what has happened on the field. I'm ready for the game on Friday.
If Nebraska has this roster healthy that ha c played the last 2 games and beat Michigan State, they would be a 9-2 caliber team right now. I believe this unit wouldve beaten Wisconsin, Northwestern, Illinois, and Purdue.
If CFB was played in a vacuum maybe. Yes the record says 5-6, but Nebraska is not your typical 5-6 team. you will soon find out

Again, I'm sorry I'm not so confident in our team for this one. If Nebraska could beat MSU they could obviously beat us...and it just doesn't set up well for us at all. Sorry if you've got your beak up your butt too far to see that.
Putting up 500 yards vs the Spartans was not a fluke. And Nebraska still wouldve had nearly 40 seconds left to go only 40 yards had that call been reversed. I believe they still wouldve scored. Sparty didn't stop Nebraska all night.
I remember last year Nebraska fired a winning coach and hired one that doesn't.

You might get a better response here is every post so far wasn't tearing down the Hawks and singing the praises of how good Nebraska is. Could Iowa lose this game? Absolutely, but so far they've shown the abaility to do what it takes to win 11 times in a row.
"Nebraska's run D is awesome". Well, Wisconsin's run D is higher ranked and Canzeri ran for a buck 25 on them. We now have 4 healthy backs and it's been obvious that CJ while not 100% is feeling better each week.
Don't expect your new arrival along with gloom & doom to be warmly received by some here, many believe in this teams ability to do more than is "expected" of them.
There would have been 18 seconds left and facing a 3rd and 20 from outside the 40 after the penalty. And that doesn't even include if there would have been a 10 second run off. I don't think they would have scored. But we will never know. Either way, very fortunate.
Nebraska isn't as good statistically on offense as last year, which makes sense since they lost their two best players, Kenny Bell and Ameer Abdullah. So basically the strength of Nebraska's team, the offense, is weaker than it was last year and they were very fortunate to beat us last year in OT.
Fine then. Let's talk about how much Nebraska sucks!
Their defense is soft.
They can't run the ball.
They lost to Purdue.
FYI, I've never said I want Kirk gone. Those posters have pretty much checked out for the year. The only ones that bring up Iowa fans wanting Kirk gone nowadays is Nebraska fans.
Wow, I didn't realize he was quite that bad. However, I have heard that he can often win the ones he shouldn't and he's proved that again this year with MSU.
Our team this year is soaring in the rankings; that's why I'm a little worried.
So glad to have the stability we have in Iowa City.

Sorry, I was a long time lurker. Used to have the handles "MeatTheFerentz" & "FerentalUnit". Pretty dumb, I know haha.
This team has "abaility" coming out their ears, but it's just so rare for teams to run the table anymore and I don't think we are nearly as talented as the teams that have done it recently. Hell, we were absolutely putrid just last year.
I'm sorry if I'm coming off negative, but I'm just worried that it'll be 10 more years before we have another shot and I've just got a really bad feeling about this one.

Secondly, how in the world can you say iowa has struggled with inferior teams, especially when our record with common opponents to Nebby is 5-0 to their 1-4....the fact that Iowa has only trailed a TOTAL OF 12 PLAYS in the 2nd half (2nd game of the year) and has never trailed NOT ONCE IN THE 4TH Quarter...how can you justify that what so ever?!?!?!
