How in the world is OSU ranked #23?

They have VERY few big wins. Really on one against Maryland and one against PU. No big OOC wins. Big Ten appears to have a clear Top 6; OSU is 2-4 against the other five.

They haven't played Wisconsin yet and only played MD once as well. Didn't some unranked team in the big ten beat them twice?? I love it though, I don't want to be ranked. Our team seems to be playing well, so don't mess with it.

Star ratings, man. Star ratings.
Careful. They are bringing in a lot of star ranked guys next year to replace the star ranked guys they lose this year so they could be just as bad!

22 wins and 11-6 in conference matters too. Some people don't bother to look much beneath the record.

Russell is awfully fun to watch. I can't remember a freshman who had more game.

I think both OSU and MSU are getting a lot of name recognition. It almost seems like one of most important considerations for the RPI.

After the Indiana game I watched the B1G channel review show, which was an hour, long to see what they had to say about the game and see some highlights.

I swear all they showed was the WI and OS games highlights about three times each and then the rest of the show was about every team outside the B1G.

However I don't mind not being ranked or getting much love heading into the two tourneys, staying under the radar.

Really? While Russell is a fine young player, I'm not particularly impressed. Not trying to dig at the kid, I just don't know what all the fuss is about. I thought Trey Burke and Jared Sullinger looked more impressive as freshmen.

I thought that the selection committee said that the OOC schedule mattered at that you actually had to in some of those. Iowa is above them on every level except for our OOC records and Iowa's SOS in that dept should trump OSU's better record against low RPI schools. Can't believe RPI is still relied on so heavily. Its been proven to not be an accurate overall indicator of the worthiness of a team to be invited to the dance.

The good news for the rest of the league is that Russell will be a high lottery pick if he leaves after one year. Matta is a recruiting machine, but they will be a very different team next year.

You are confusing NCAA selection and seeding with AP ranking. Iowa isn't in the Top 25 of the polls due to having 10 losses and being named Iowa.

For NCAA selection, all the bracketology reports from Palm and Lundardi have Iowa with a better seed than OSU. Quality wins and road wins matter in NCAA selection, not so much in the polls.
