How Iowa will beat NW

Of course I want them to win the game. Honestly, though, I'm more concerned about CJ getting hurt and losing him for more games down the road. Unless the pass blocking is tremendously improved in one week, he is at risk of taking some big hits.

A loss against nw would be a downer. Losing CJ, for even a couple of games, would derail the season.

Look I understand fully what you are saying, CJB is our best option at QB......however, this team has something special and can win games without CJB...that was on full display the last 2 weeks (especially at Wisc). His performance at Wisconsin was far from spectacular and last weeks numbers were just OK. Yes he was instrumental in wins against ISU and Pitt, but this team just finds a way to win and my hope is they can do it this weekend one more time before the bye week to get some guys back. I do not if you are suggesting to sit CJB this week or not, but none the less if CJB can play he is going to play. Could he get injured from playing, absouletly....then again he could get injured on none contact play in practice or anywhere (Drew Ott). I think the unit that has made us a dangerous team is our special teams, I said it a million times....if we had this special teams play last year we had a chance to have at least 9 wins (only games we lose IMO are against Minn and Tenn for sure) and we win Nebby and Wisc. game last year and maybe even maryland....to much blame on the offense last year when our special teams were as bad as I have seen in KF era and defense was one of the worst since 2000....

Iowa needs a defensive or special teams touchdown Saturday. If we can do that, I love our chances to get out of there 7-0.

If he can play, then he should play.

I'm giving him more credit, I think, than others are because the pass blocking was bad against both wisky and illanoy. And I'm being generous calling it bad. He was being harassed and hammered for most of both games. Sure, he missed some throws against illanoy. But he also made some spectacular plays and scrambles to keep things going.

They have done what they needed to to win. Some personnel losses will be more important than others. Losing Ott for the year hurts. Losing CJ for the year would be devastating.
