How long does Fran get here?

Fran has done a nice job and the program is in good shape. The next five years will be a lot of fun for all of us.

The question is - are we as a fan base good with the current state of Iowa Basketball. In essence, are we ok with competing for 8th to 5th in the BIG every year and on the bubble? Does he need more time? Is this Freshman class a "Fab 4 or 5 class? ".
Also, the question is, Should Iowa keep the 2010 Fran McCaffery? Keep the oil changed, tuneups, good tires, etc. Or, should they trade for a newer model? Opinions are going to vary on this for sure based on the value to each customer.

I see value in the fact that Fran took a program from the depths of the earth to respectability. I see subsequent post-season appearances by the team. I see an improvement in recruiting, but that I believe will continue to improve. I see a real commitment by Fran and staff to improve. And, based on our youth, the injuries to different players, and losing four seniors from last year's team, I can still see value in driving a 2010 McCaffery.

I'll keep the oil changes, tuneups, tires, as long as it performs well (for me).

Facts:

1) delivered IA BB from the Lickliter era
2) multiple NCAA appearances.
3) lackluster BIG Tourney results/ lackluster NCAA results
4) Great freshman class - optimism soph/upper class men
5) Cannot fill Carver. Mediocre excitement.
6) questionable coaching ability.
7) mediocre overall results
8) questionable motivational/developmental skills

It boils down to what are we as a fan base OK with the results we see year in and year out.

And that begs the question: How does Wisconsin do it year in year out with in essence the same talent? How did Northwestern do it this year?

I like Iowa's situation right now. I'll take this off year considering what's coming and returning. Fran is perfect for Iowa.
