How much cash do you keep in your house?

Keep a few hundred on me at all times and a few hundred in the house for emergency fun money. Try not to spend it and just keep adding to it but find myself always grabbing it when I need cash.

I typically have around $500 in emergency money stashed in various places...a few 100 at the house, a hundred at the office, a hundred in my car.

It’s a thing Jesus taught. Walk in my door and I’ll wash your feet, brother. I’m not Christian but I like a lot of the philosophy.

$2k in my safe next to my weed.

My Dad (83) used to be a big cash guy. I didn’t know this at the time, but he used to keep a lot hidden in various places throughout his house. One night about 8 years ago, lighting struck his house and it burned, almost to the ground. Luckily he was out of town at the time. Not so lucky, he had over $200k stashed. Recovered none and I think he was able to claim $30k with his insurance.

Whatever is in my wallet, an envelope with cash for the house cleaner, and a jar with change. That's it. I'm not prepared for the apocalypse.

In the Quad Cities they busted a ring of thieves who were targeting owners of Chinese restaurants. The thieves knew there would be a cash stash, Louis Vuitton bags, and gold available for the taking.

$100 tops.

We get $100 when we need cash and wife and I split it.

Only time I use cash is for bowling league. Outside of that $100 would last me a month or more.

I always have some cash in my wallet and that is it. When it gets below $20 I will go withdraw $100. My wife carries no cash.

I think we’ve got like $1,500 right now? Usually ranges from 1k-5k? No real reason why either, but it is nice to have around

I was watching the news and Fanny Willis (an attorney in one of Trump's 700 court cases) said her Father advised her to keep 6 months worth of cash in her home at all times.

It seems like a risk to me.

I usually keep $80 in my wallet. That's about it.

Pretty much like everyone else. Couple mill.

Couple G's. My Grandpa gave me this safe he bought in the 40's and we figured we would keep some cash in it. When ever the kids use our credit card on a video game or something they give us cash and we throw it in there. Or when they get cash for christmas or birthdays they give us the cash and we transfer funds to their accounts. We usually bust it out when we go on vacation to use at the casino's as like free money.
$3500 in Twenties. $200 more in Fives and ones all in a floor safe.

Mrs Stick has $1000 fun money in her underwear drawer.

Thought is in a breakin theywill find her money and not look for the safe.

Typically a grand or so. You never know when you might need some running money.

our house: couple hundred… nothing crazy

What I’ve heard:
From 76092: 1st grader brought 1k cash to school one day . Parents had no idea they had 1k cash in their house.

Lori Arnold( Toms sister) she carried around $20,000 in her purse at all times! Learned that from Mama Meth documentary!

I think I have about $800 in cash, not counting my change jar. It's a pretty big jar, so if you count that too, it's probably upwards of $1500.

About 2k, just in case you need some cash for something.

Worked with an older guy who really believed someone would hack all the banks int he country, he put $200 a week in a safe at home but also kept some in savings. Didn't tell his wife about the cash at home. Went on vacation and he has $40k in the safe after 4 years and takes some out for the vacation. Said his wife didn't believe him at first and thought he was up to something, was funny. csb/

I'm surprised anyone would ask this question on a public message board, and I'm even more surprised anyone would give a serious answer.

Subtle brags about any kind of wealth is begging for trouble at some point, even if we all think we're anonymous.

I have a large bear shaped container that originally held animal crackers but now holds a collection of pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters. I’d guess In total value less than $100, that’s it.
