So punish success?
Yeah, how about no.
Every year you make the final four you lose 5 scholarships
Since there is such an emphasis put on talent, and players are rated coming out of high school, why not limit all college programs to how many 5 star, and 4 star, rated players they can sign in a year.
"Hey son, I know it's been your life's dream to play for Alabama, and they want you, but unfortunately they've signed too many highly-rated guys at totally different positions."Since there is such an emphasis put on talent, and players are rated coming out of high school, why not limit all college programs to how many 5 star, and 4 star, rated players they can sign in a year.
Move Alabama to the NFC Central Division. Can you imagine what they'd do to the Bears?
The 0-16 Browns would wax even the best college team ever. Not even an argument lol

Reduce the scholarships to 70-75. That would prevent teams from stockpiling talent. Those were extra ten players from the top team would have to play someplace else.
You'd want to take away 10-15 college opportunities per team to "fix" CFB?Reduce the scholarships to 70-75. That would prevent teams from stockpiling talent. Those were extra ten players from the top team would have to play someplace else.
The answer is more likely get lucky. Yes, get better and beat them is a tall chore, but not impossible. It sounds nice but it would last all of 30 seconds to a court challenge. So we are going to tell a kid, "sorry I know you want to go to Clemson and it's theoretically a free country but they already have 5 5-star recruits so you have to go to another school."
Reducing scholarships helped disperse talent when they went from 105 to 85. Another reduction would help somewhat, but don't think there is appetite to do that either.
I don't know what the exact answer is. It's easy to say "get better" but when all the best talent goes to a handful of schools it's not as easy as just getting better.

You think they would beat an NFL team let alone a playoff team?Move Alabama to the NFC Central Division. Can you imagine what they'd do to the Bears?
Most sports go through dynastic periods.
UCLA MBB won 10 of 12 titles from 1964-1975 under John Wooden.
USC won 6 of 7 from 1964-1975 in baseball.
Penn State has won 8 of the last 9 in wrestling. We won 25 in 31 years in wrestling from 1976-2000.
Bama winning 6 of the last 11 really isn't as bad as some of you think.
That sounds nice but nobody can out scheme Alabama, just ask Ohio State, Clemson, ND, etc. If you don't like taking away scholarships, than give us your answer? The system in college football is broken. I would rather go back to the old days when the coaches and the media voted for a champion. At least then teams like Brigham Young, Colorado, Tennessee, Iowa, Yale, etc. had a chance. Now with the "eye test" and 5 stars all going to the same schools no one but AL, Clemson, OH St. and maybe a couple others have ANY chance. Even when the blue bloods lose they still get selected due to infamous "eye test."Beat Bama, Clemson, tOSU, Oklahoma, GA, LSU, Texas, and Notre Dame by improving recruiting and out scheme them on the football field. Get better or lose.
