How would you classify yourself?

-10 and trending down. Like a few others have posted, I'm -100 on voting (ever since Jan. 6.) I was a registered Republican until Bush I, and I have voted for Republicans since changing my registration to Democrat, but I will not vote for a Republican again until the MAGA movement is dismissed. The only exception was two years ago when my BIL (no pic) ran for sheriff in our county. He's an R, but I still voted for him because of family. Only because of family.

Fiscally I'm like -18 and Socially a 10.

IDK I'm a communitarian and generally formulate my own thoughts on things. Some of them are weird and unpopular.

You voted for him even though you thought the other guy would be a better sheriff? Vote for the other guy and tell the in-laws you voted for BIL. Problem solved.

I think you might be my exact political opposite. And yet neither of us will ever vote for Trump. That says as much as anything about how unfit he is to lead our country.

That's a very interesting perspective and I would imagine the opposite of what most who possess divergent positions like this would profess.

I didn't think the other guy would be better. Didn't think there was much difference between either candidate. And I wouldn't lie to my family.

If Republicans keep up what they're doing to their party, that scale is going to tilt to a -28 to +22...or even worse.

That would be a MASSIVE swing. It could take an entire generation to win that back.

If my aunt had balls...

you idiots would let her win a boxing gold medal

Gotcha. I read that as if he wasn't your BIL you wouldn't have voted for him

Socially, I'm a -10 at least, maybe higher. I've always believed you can best judge a society by seeing how they treat the most vulnerable of its citizens.

Fiscally, I'm probably closer to a +10. I believe in balanced budgets and also living up to the obligations and promises that have been made to our people and those things can be best funded through a progressive tax system and the elimination of the tax advantages that the wealthy have accrued since Reagan was in office, including the estate/inheritance tax laws.

“From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked”

I can do both.

I always try to keep worldly politics in perspective though.
Both? How?
Christ told his followers to be no part of the world no?
He refused to get involved with the politics of his day, even refusing to be king when the jews tried to make him such. I think you either stand for God's Kingdom or you don't. Supporting any earthly government or candidate would be turning your back on Christ.

Because we can vote. It takes 5 minutes.

Christ told us to give to Ceasar what is Ceasar's.

Not voting is how we get dictators like Trump.

sure you can vote.
He also said give to God the things that are God's
That would include loyalty to his government and to stay neutral and out of the worlds social and political issues.
Just because you can vote doesn't mean you should. Voting means you are saying you believe one government can do it better than another no? Just my opinion but a vote for any candidate says you trust them to solve the issues that only God's government can and will do.
Jesus telling them to pay Caesars things to Caesars was an answer to pay taxes, which Christians should of course do

On the political spectrum? If +25 was the most conservative (Rico) and -25 was the most liberal (Chis).

I would rate me a minus 4 meaning center left making me pretty much an equal opportunity offender. I think it might be interesting to see how we see ourselves vs how others perceive us.
Maybe around a +15?

Chis ain't the most liberal person on here. I am.

Yeah. I just threw Chis out there because he's a staunch liberal that posts a lot so he was the first to come to mind. And I salute you. Self awareness is a virtue lost to many today. I think this discussion highlights some of that.

wish i had seen and entered this thread earlier but it would be really interesting if the self assessed scores were accompanied by brief bullet points to substantiate. for instance just to illustrate what i mean @Whiskeydeltadeltatango who says he’s a 0 would add 2 solid left bullets and 2 solid right bullets to zero it out.

I don't even know if you're all that socially liberal.
I don't care what book you read, after consuming your preferred substance, while cuddling up to whom ever makes you happy.

So I sure as shit don't want to hear about it.

Pot should be legal, common sense abortions should exist, and be with who makes you happy. That's fairly socially liberal.

I used to see myself as like a 5-7 maybe back in the RINO days of Bush, Busch, McCain. Ever since the Tea Party got going, I’ve shifted to maybe a -5. Or maybe I’m still 5-7, but MAGA is like 45. Hard to say.

This. The repubs had me for the first part of my voting life. The dems will likely get my vote for the remainder. The tea party mutated into MAGA and I highly doubt they'll be able to recover from that in my lifetime.

So I'm going to say -6.9420.

Which Republican presidential candidates did you vote for?

I’m not the one you asked, but since he said he and I were pretty similar, comparison might be interesting. My POTUS votes were: Perot, Clinton, Bush, Bush, McCain, Romney, Clinton, Biden. HRC and Joe were absolutely “Never Trump” votes, as it will be this year.
